Quick question, is this not exactly Research Into Affection? I know sometimes Honey Select and Daz3d games look a little samey, but I'm pretty sure the previews look exactly the same and I didn't see anything about a name change.
Hey :)

Like mordred93 already said, the name of RIA got changed to Sweet Affection.

I'm not going to defend any of our work in the team because, well... your opinion is your opinion.
Nothing right or wrong about that, just your personal opinion.
And to each their own in the end.

What I AM going to say though is that to a certain degree, that I agree with some of the things.
Don't get me wrong, nothing will change in regard of the compliments or the characters being sweet to each other.
That's how the game is, that's how the story is and that's how the characters are, and what our fans like/love.
Nothing will change in regard of the "chuckles" "giggles" or anything like that.
And nor will anything change about the length of the events.

We've mentioned plenty of times already in the past that if you are looking for a game with quick action or inc... sex
within the first hour... this is not the game for you. (Plenty of titles on this websites that are like that)

But I do see that at certain stages that I've gone a little bit overboard with the use of "I'll be honest" or "amazing"
And my plan is this year(while creating the normal monthly content) to go through all the current content in the game to make it a little bit more "streamlined", and fix all the grammar errors as well, as fix some of the images that aren't right.
(Nothing will change in terms of content)
But this is a work in progress and such things are to be expected, especially when you put out substantial monthly updates like we do each month.

Hopefully we are able to change your mind in the future about our game, but we understand if we don't.
This is not a game/experience for everyone, especially not on this website.
But we are still extremely proud of what we've created thus far :)

I have been a fan of this game since RIC and the change of tone doesn't bother me nor does a slow burn. I also have no problems with lots of dialog. Its just even once you are a few levels in so many parts of the dialog still feels like lvl 1 conversations in which the first 5000 lines of dialog didn't even happen. The MC will tell someone he doesn't want to do anything to make them feel uncomfortable, or ever dream of making them uncomfortable, or would ever even think it, like he is saying it to them for the first time despite the fact he has said it to them 200 times already and they told you they know that and they have no questions about it.

I actually stopped playing the game to come check here to read some other thoughts (dangerous on F95 I know) to see if I was just being pedantic. I have actually missed good story driven dialog while trying to skip past so much redundant dialog. There is just so much bloat around some really good dialog which I don't understand because the game has a good amount of content.

Those are my thoughts. I wish you and your team well and good luck.

I 100% agree with the complaints about the dialogues.
I like this game very much and I've been supporting it for a very long time.

However, the dialogues are the only true downside of it. I get bored pretty fast when characters begin talking about life stuff, past anecdotes, and other types of unnecessary small talks. In this game, about 90% of the dialogues fall in this category.

I have no other choice but power skipping through all the WOTs and this makes me sad more than anything because I may inadvertently skip some important story elements during the process.

So, If I may, I want to suggest a simple solution. Just create a new option in the settings page named "Use short dialogues" and use IF statements inside the scripts to group flavor text in case the flag is set to false.
I believe this would make everyone happy, at close to 0 effort required.

So I haven't played for a couple of updates so I am playing from the start and looking into all the "new" characters pretty much everyone outside of M and S. The thing is what is with all the violence and hints towards prostitution and organised crime etc that has sprung up. Along with all of the abuse of the other characters it feels so out of place and odd compared to what they are going for in the "main" story.

Aside from that I have to agree the amount of nearly pointless fluff thrown into the story that seems to exist just to pad the game out but the game doesn't need that it has tonnes to do and IS a great game that I have enjoyed and followed since I first found it as RIC. Like the others have said it is not the ideas or the effect of the dialogue just the amount of padding that seems rather arbitrary and needless.

Man I am really enjoying replaying the game. I know some people have issues with some of the dialogue and the pacing, and usually I am not a big fan of slow burn games, but I absolutely love this game.

I haven't finished the whole game yet. But I am assuming that the prostitution thing you're talking about is with Donna right? From her events I got more the feeling that she is probably a stripper or something like that.

Mhm... I don't want to say too much - just:

Life is not just sun and rainbows.
Everyone got his past, for some it's a bit darker.

It's just a reflection on how life is.

Yes, they're going to talk about it, but that's not the leading element in the end.
SA sticks to its roots.

-

J..D can probably say more to that, but I want to keep my answer short and spoiler free.

Edit: One more thing... I get really, and I mean, really pissed when anyone gets abused.
But I made it through the events without smashing my screen or getting over the top pissed.

So, the backstories ain't that horrible.
But just draw your own picture of it - this is just my opinion on the matter. :)

I totally understand what you are saying and I feel the same way I'm mostly just talking about the way this game has re-branded itself along with how the main story is from what I remember is mostly sun and rainbows. Also not really talking bout things in particular but both Donna's, Rose's, Lucy's all seem to be going down towards this route and normally when games start this direction in my experience they dive right in and over do it. I don;t mind games going this direction if it fits with the overall tone which it feels like it doesn't, to me. It feels like the devs were fed up with happy happy and added some grittiness to contrast it which is fine it is their game. Just feels odd especially with the most common phrase being "sweet kind boy".

Edit: If you want en example for me I would say the backstory for Haley in Haley's Story I loved that game for just being relaxing fluff and then that happened and continued for a couple of expansions and I haven't gone back to it Still love the story before then one of my favourites on this site but i am now probably overly cautious of devs dipping into that sorta direction especially in fluffier happy stories.

I think the feeling might come from the "late" introduction of named characters.

A new player, who can immediately play their content might experience it in another way.
In the end, MC stays true to himself and the overall color of the game.

I don't know what's coming in the future - that's all in J..D's head 'tho.

But I can assure you that the characters' backstories are not like that just because he got bored by the "sweet and happy" stuff.

Like I said, I have absolutely no clue what's coming.
But I would love to crawl into J..D's brain for a while 'tho. :D

I'm happy to hear that you like the game overall. :)
Maybe give the other stuff you don't like at the moment some time to develop... The characters are fairly new, and only at the beginning of their journey with you.

Gave this one a shot. I'm trying hard to like it, but some scenes are way too long and drawn out in my opinion. Maybe it gets better later, but I'm giving it a break for now cause it feels like s struggle to get through right now. Good luck on it though.

Don't worry,
We haven't introduced new characters just for the sake of implementing new characters.
There is a story planned out for every single one of them, just as for M&S.

And you don't have to worry about me getting tired of M&S, and that being the reason for implementing new characters.
That is absolutely simply impossible and will never happen.
Every image that I create for them and every word that I write still give me so much joy and I can't wait myself to follow them
on their journey throughout the next levels.

Reason why I decided to implement more characters is to give the player even more to do in the game, and make it more lively.
Being able to go to your M's work, or start other journey's.... well, I'm all for giving our fans more choices and more experiences to... well... experience.

And as far as the side character stories starting of dark/gritty/sad, obviously I'm not going to talk about any spoilers
or give away anything :).
Only thing that I'm going to say is... Look at the title of the game... "Sweet Affection"

That should tell you more than enough ;)

I used to love this game but now its a drawn out padded high school essay that I struggle to get through.
I am sadden that I won't be continuing to play this game on updates.
I'm sorry to hear that.

Yet, talking about life stuff, their history, small talk, reminiscing, etc...
That's what most of our backers/fans actually like/love.

If you remove all that stuff, all the dialogue, all their motivations and reasons, their struggles and journey.
If you remove that, you'll just end up with empty shells of characters, and there are already hundreds of those on this site.

Them talking about a book, or homework, or even about how much they love cuddling.
That's what gives them... well, their personality and brings them alive.
(And for a lot of people, it makes it more realistic because i.r.l... well, plenty of those types of small talk i.r.l as well)

And we've been telling from the start that this is a story based game with adult parts, not a porn game with small sections of story.

For the people that are only interested in the naughty bits, well... there is always the gallery.

Man I am really enjoying replaying the game. I know some people have issues with some of the dialogue and the pacing, and usually I am not a big fan of slow burn games, but I absolutely love this game.
Thank you :)

A hint system just like we have for M&S currently will be added for all the side characters as well in the 0.7.1 update.

For Maya Tyler, you will need to advance S her journey until a certain event (USB Stick) plays out (level 5)

I'm sorry but you completely missed my point.

Most of your backers/fans love small talk, etc? That's fine, I didn't ask you to remove or change them.

What I'm trying to tell is that I like both the story and the characters (I wouldn't support the game otherwise...) but the dialogues tend to be too much on the repetitive/overly descriptive side. In other words, they bore all of those who don't like to read about such arguments to death. I'm not the only one that noticed that, If I were alone in this I would just keep skipping and be done with that. But the fact there are several people here complaining about the same thing should be an important signal of what might be "wrong" in your game.
Have you considered the possibility you might have much more backers if this game hadn't such a problem? Dialogues can be a huge selling factor for games like this...

I came up with a possible solution that would get rid of such a grave, yet trivial, problem that would require very little work on your side and that wouldn't deprive in any way your game of your original vision.
At this point you can keep telling yourself everything is good, the game is perfect as it is and just ignore my suggestion. It is within your rights to do so, but would it be the best decision? I think not, for the sake of your game.
