Then it's in the wrong section. This is more of a comic than of a game. Games imply interactivity which this doesn't have.

Therefore it's not a game.

Those titles HAVE choices and playability and you make your own story. In this case you lierally just read and have no control over the story.
That is not for you to decide.

But that doesn't change the fact that he has a point. It really isn't a game without some form of interactivity. If the player has no challenges or choices or even say in what happens, because there is nothing to play there can be no player at that point, just a reader.

Kinetic novels really aren't games, so shouldn't they be in a different section? Or at least some form of subsection?

We recently moved VN's and games into the same section because we had too many different forums, which lead to problems. Why would we start to create new ones despite our clear desire to simplify?

- we have many different types of members here - some like type games - some don't.
That is why we have tags to find or avoid that - which is important to you.
Kinetic novels are a form of Visual Novel(s) - just look on VNDB - you'll find Hundreds of them.
And it wouldn't be fair to allow some type of content - and not others, as that in itself is a form of censorship.
You can choose to download the game, or not!?

Like said - different sections were merged - so everything and everyone has to get along in one section now.
Just use the tags - all will be well in the world again.
Cheers

Alright, fair enough. If sections were recently merged for simplifications sake, that is at least an understandable reason. I don't necessarily agree with the decision, but I also don't know what kind of problems might have arisen from this.

Yes, I realize that tags are very useful. It is rather nice that this place tends to be more accurate with their tags than VNDB, as they have plenty of kinetic novels that don't have the kinetic novel tag yet, likely because of the sheer amount of VNs they have. But, I'm in no way suggesting we remove this content from the site, merely pointing out that a kinetic novel is in no way a game and should be in an appropriate section. It is, after all, merely a digital book with images.

I liked it. Good story and characters. Great psychological insight and it really played well upon the emotional investment with the main character's dilemma. It does get a little long winded sometimes with static images or black screens. There were times when I wished that it was showing the small details that were in the text that would have really helped to flesh out the settings and sell the seduction. Overall though, I really enjoyed it, maybe because it was different than what I'm usually seeing on renpy vn/games.

Simplifcation isn't an innately positive quality, it's only desirable if it is useful. You could simplify things further for instance by just getting rid of all subforums and sticking all threads about everything on one, but that wouldn't be helpful.

With the new changes and these kinds of 'games' getting posted (no offense to the uploader, I swear I don't mean to pick on you), I definitely see the site going a certain way. Before you could have confidence that if there was a new thread that meant there was an exciting new porn game, and you'd open it up to see if the subject matter appealed to you. Things will get worse as it gets more popular and the place gets more users and some inevitably try to upload something, anything, to feel like they're contributing. In another thread I made the observation that if any kind of VN becomes okay to post the place will eventually be flooded with things irrelevant to the interests of a majority of the userbase simply because there's a lot more non-porn VNs than porn VNs. Separate forums would have helped with that.

I hope at least that eventually threads get tagged with [Kinetic Novel] and [No Porn/Ecchi] right in the title so people won't have to open a bunch of threads just to see which of them are actual pornographic games.

All the staff have discussed these sorts of issues for hours upon hours, perhaps even days. We do not do anything out of the spur of the moment. There were problems with having VN games and other porn games separate. Adding more prefixes would push the title even further than it already is, making the list annoying to read, and cutting off the end of the title, which is the main reason we changed, "Visual Novel" into "VN." Also, the amount of non porn games on this site is tiny, if it becomes an issue it will be addressed, but for now, people will have to get by by actually reading the main post.

This game's plot is...fascinating. The game is actually not that long (it only takes like 3 or 4 hours to finish it, with no dialog choices or split paths), and there are only 4 characters in it including the main character, but even with those limitations it manages to craft a truly fascinating story, with twists and turns that are pretty hard to see coming despite the hints being there, and a pretty beautiful soundtrack that fit every scene nicely. There was a limited number of CGs, but they too were well made and inserted into the scenes where they made the most impact. Overall, I definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes a strong story that won't take them long to finish :).
