I am extremely confused by this game. When you start playing it seems like you are playing in the middle of the game, there is no context anywhere...

I think the thread needs a disclaimer in the OP to make it clearer. The game was divided in two. Season 1-4 (v0.89.8) is what all new comers should be playing first. I get the confusion because many threads sometimes have an older version that is not necessary to play anymore available to download in the OP, I wouldn't have known if it wasn't because I read the thread a little bit before downloading or I would have though all I needed was Season 5 as well.

Officially, there is no M&S content in this. This is a game promoted on patreon and that would violate patreon ToS and Community Guidelines (in fact, when it was in the game, the developer had to remove all that in order to stay on patreon over 5 years ago). You can rename Mary - the homeowner of the house where the MC, Peter, lives - to whatever you want. There is quite a bit of content for Mary and Peter.

I get it, unfortunately, unlike with the other games that I have played that chose the renaming method, in this game apparently it wasn't programmed correctly and there's no way to make the game reconized her as your Mom to you and Mary to everybody else, because the game treats Mom as her name instead of as her noun. The best solution to me was to rename her to Mom (Mary). I'm surpirse this has never been fixed by a fan incest patch.

In the past, I was under the impression that the different versions of Taffy Tales is one reason why saves weren't compatible between versions - Android identified each version as a different app. Is that not the case anymore?

Not for me no, when I have the v0.89 downloaded and try to install v0.95 it only allows me to update the game Instead of it being 2 different apps and when I try to do the opposite it just wouldn't allow me to install the game at all.

While highly anticipated by many, I doubt it. The previews shared hint at possible storyline advancement but not that far (in fact, I would say from the previews it appears to be a little circular rather than advance).

Hm. Interesting. Sorry to hear. If you want to look at the animations and images from v0.89.8 - I have uploaded zip files of all the assets for people to download to their devices to open in image viewers and video players. No. Not even UberPie, the developer. They won't even hint at it until they get close to the release... if even then. They might give 24 hours heads up, they might just release it.

That said... maybe sometime between late October to the end of December -- but could be later. Last update was 3 months ago and no one should expect an update from Uberpie in less than 4 months - averaging closer to 7 in the past few years (not counting the major bugfix that was v0.85.1).

besides the weird perspective, a bit of colors and lightning it's pretty on par with the old art though, i guess the artist was ahead of his time

Nah the artist was always too lazy to make a Visual Novel's worth of art tbh, there's some really obviously traced shit in the early part of the story

He's posted at least one update since Unity's failed roll out and pull back and sheepish return to some kind of fee. Also, it would not have cost him more than $3,000 per year (<2% of his annual earnings) for the Pro/Enterprise license. That license would have made him safe from any per install fee for years.

Or maybe he was tired of all the incessant bickering on both sides and is trying( and failing ) to make both sides happy.

In truth it was planned from the start to have both if you played the very early releases you would know this cause there used to be a choice/branching question when you speak to the doctor on the phone asking which path you wanted to be on. about the time of the revamp of the beginning that choice disappeared iirc correctly.

Is there a v0.89.8b complete walkthrough somewhere? Holy cow, this game is a bloody maze, and even with the hints, there's a lot of stuff the hints don't mention, the game has over a thousand CG! I'm worried I might miss some side stuff. Would also be nice to know in what proper order to do events.

I have posted links to my speedrun video walkthroughs for the new content in v0.89.8 in each of my FAQs in this thread for the past year. Also, YouTube has several SFW walkthrough videos to follow along with from day 1. The hints in the dialogues before the task becomes active (or shortly after) almost hand hold players to where they need to go. There is no such thing as "side stuff" in this game - it's complete everything (except for the stuff that is marked optional - such as femboy, netorare and pimping, and bathroom sports). The proper order to do events is as the come up in the task list. In the early/mid part of the game - the important thing is to not simply focus on one character - their routes are intertwined. Also, 95%+ of all playthrough questions have been answered in this thread already - if you get stuck - simply search the thread (see my signature below).

Your opinion doesn't matter to UberPie. I showed you the time line for the last 4 years for a reason. Late October is the earliest - but don't expect it because you will most likely be disappointed.

The only "bug" is if you don't hang them fast enough to beat the timer. If you get stuck - set your F95 search results order to "most recent first" and search "FAQ" - at the top of the inside of my FAQ spoiler is a link to video playthroughs of v0.95.7 (Season 5) - both routes.
