The people who are subscribing on subscribestar did so knowing that this is exactly what the developers are working on. Once the developer was kicked off of Patreon, they decided to start work on a Steam release of "Season 1" content (whatever they decided that was... But since they had already said v0.89.8 was "Seasons 1-4", it's obvious it would be a portion of the beginning of the content). After that, they started their subscribestar account and said exactly what their plan was before anyone started subscribing.

No supporter on subscribestar went into this being misled.

Just to weigh on this argument. Telling people not to complain about games just because they don’t pay makes no sense even pirates invest time and effort into the game and wanna see it do better. People who pirate movies don’t pay but to a customer their 5* or 1* review matters all the same. I supported Uber I enjoyed it but it’s not like me paying meant I paid my dues so now I’m allowed to complain and other can’t because by that logic pirates shouldn’t praise games they like either after all they didn’t pay right? What's really weird about the steam release, is the projection they have for sales, they've been working by 8 months and they've been using their subscribestar money to finance that development, suppose 80k (that could be way more), selling less than thousands of units would be unnaceptable (let's not forget steam's 30% cut)

How many units and at what price they will have to sell to pay for development cost and cover the money they no longer get from patreon?

If this page can be believed, indeed at the very least they lost their half their earnings( supposing their 27k minus 8k-10k on deductions)



Supposing they've been loosing 17k per month, they've already lost 136k and they would need tens of thousands of sales to only cover that without considering how much they will need to earn to keep going on, supposing a year more it would be another 200k, so with a really buggy math they would need to sell 480k (because steams takes the 30%) to recover what they lost on this 8 months and to keep the old budget for another year, tbh I don't see that happening
