i'm afraid to ask because i think i already know the answer but, has the developer gone back and finished everything that was quote "under construction" in season 1-5 yet ?

No. Not everything.
Everything for "Season 1" is finished in Season 1 Redux even if it says "under construction. It is the "final" retail version of "Season 1."
Until Uberpie changes his mind....
that is kind of confusing still. for clarification, do mean even though some choices in season 1 are unavailable because its "under construction" season 1 is still considered complete?

Top one has only 1 episode so you have to start again if you want to play 1 to 5 episodes on the old one. I would prob still start with the top one because it's so much better
Is there a way to skip season 1 in the old version? I played through redux and don't wanna redo everything in the Season 1-4 version, I saw v1.07 or some such has a season picker but only for season 5

No. And Season 1 Redux is only about 20% of everything in v0.89.8 and v1.07.3 - You won't be redoing everything in v0.89.8 "Season 1-4". Also, Season 1 Redux has 2 or so scenes currently found in v1.07.3 "Season 5."

v0.89.8 "Seasons 1-4" have about 80% of all the content released prior to the Season 1 Redux release. Season 1 Redux has about 15% of the content from "Seasons 1-4". It also has a couple of scenes from v1.07.3 "Season 5" as dream sequences. But all that content will eventually be released when the future Reduxes are released over the coming years. Season 1 Redux also has a few new scenes that are not in anything else.
Is it worth it to attempt to find some kind of software or other device to play v0.89.8? Depends how desperate you are to need to play it sooner rather than simply waiting. There are so many things to worry about in life and do.
