To be honest, I don't fully understand this. If, suppose, the reason is that some characters seemed insufficiently mature to Steam (or let's assume that this is the main reason, and scenes with controversial content are secondary), then how is this problem fundamentally solved in the second season?

That's a great question - and the reason I question it, too.
Remember though, my observation back when the whole kerfluffle of Season 1 Redux happened at the beginning of the year:

I don't think Uber will draw characters that are 3-4 years older. Controversial scenes are resolved by cutting them out and implementing them in a third-party patch, but how is the age issue resolved? Or will the game build that will be sent to Steam be 100% vanilla, without any sexual interaction between certain characters? So many questions and so few answers.[/spoiler]
It's not a third-party patch (that would be a fan-made patch, or some other person not associated with Uberpie). It's an official patch, made and released by Uberpie, himself.
Is none of the Season 2 Redux content going to happen at the "college" - or only happen if someone installs the official patch? Great question.

Right now, Uberpie is on shaky ground with itch and Patreon with the official patch, as it is. Already suspended on Patreon once in 2018. Already banned on Patreon in 2024. Now, reinstated on Patreon with a product that still violates their policies. On itch with a product that may violate their policies with the official patch. Already had "Season 1 Redux" banned from Steam. Sketchy on how "Season 2 Redux: The Morning After" will pass review on Steam now with their more robust guidelines on content than what Season 1 was banned with.

Yes, they put a lot of effort into changing all references to school attributes to university ones.

It's not a third-party patch (that would be a fan-made patch, or some other person not associated with Uberpie). It's an official patch, made and released by Uberpie, himself.

To be honest, I don't know how deep Patreon can dig in search of information about the projects they host. I'll just attach a screenshot from Discord showing how the patch is distributed, I think you'll understand without any explanation.

Patreon care team can log into any publicly listed discord channel with no problem. And they have before when checking out violations. Also, they don't need to even log into a discord channel:

Additionally, the person I responded to used the word "update" in their sentence as a noun, not a verb.

Yeah, the noun version as in 'an act of updating something or someone' through providing extra information - though reading the way you talk to people here, it really doesn't surprise me that you can't take being wrong. An update can be only information, you just failed to comprehend the context they were using.

Would be different if they said 'we need a hero for the new version' or 'we need a hero for the patch', or another phrasing that could solely refer to what you assumed...but nope, they used 'update'.

It will be interesting to see how much of the mind control drugging of Mary for the whole corruption storyline will be stripped from a Steam submission and moved to an official patch because that is still considered noncon... And if steam will allow either.

Gerda conversation was after the drug had already been affecting Mary to begin with, if I remember correctly (I may not be, it's been so long), and things had already been happening. Either way, this from itch.io that lists some of the things payment processors don't allow:

Also, any continued advances on Mary by Peter while she is sleeping is also a no-no if included in Season 2 Redux.

You are going to be disappointed. It's nothing like your description. And, no, not the the depth and breadth you are seeking... Not now, not ever.

There are currently only a couple of optional scenes in v0.89.8, the stuff that they worked on for years before making Season 1 Redux. That Redux only has a couple of optional scenes. Only v1.07.3, which only has content from the last 2 years of work before making Season 1 Redux, has a brief optional netorare route and it's nothing like you are expecting.

Mary has some netorare content in the v1.07.3 optional route... But again, not like you are expecting. Mary has 1 optional scene that is a sneak preview of what a netorare scene may look like... But it stops quickly and offers those who consider themselves fans of netorare any satisfaction.
