well, guide seem to be from 0.2.7.5 . There is a changelog but, mb, not going to comb through all those if there are other guide available.

If you are talking about the run out of food thing, afaik, it is with luck (put point in forager perk) or 'luck'(save-scruming). All the other content that I have seen is avoidable with the right choice & stat check.
