Is the combat actually simpler than it looks? when I played it a while ago seemed to have a lot of mechanics especially getting off the ground with rolling or this and that etc, I don't know it kind of turned me off

It is you can jsut spam like 3 abilities and be fine. Or later if you want you can go deeper into it. I, myself never got into the complexity, min/maxing everything. But it is possible. There are some pros here somewhere

Yeah, it can be either brain dead easy, or if you really want to go out there you can make different builds, just upgrade relevant skills and get good armor + weapons and upgrade those too.
Literally the easiest build is to just spam A on your keyboard and do spring attack -> crushing blow -> spring attack -> crushing blow and when you fall down just use "Kip Up" and start spamming A again, this also becomes easy when you dual wield, to save soul crystals/magic points, just do the spider encounter for the masterwork gladius, you can save about 10 crystals that way, then go to the silajam (the first town) and buy superiour dagger to save another 5 crystals, then go to the town of monsters and get the stamina and footing charms, also be sure to pick up full plate and the other armor pieces while you're at it.
Oh right, you need boots in order to survive the spider encounter, so you might wanna make a stop at the town of monsters first to get the boots from there.

You get boots from the first town to, do you not? I remember always having boots for spider girl. I am one of those who goof around withs, usually for roleplay or whatever I plan to do. The most glaring example is if I ever make an enchanter, it's only to cement that Hiro is for combat sex. I would not recommend such a build though as there is going to be guaranteed booty loving for someone.

I mean yeah, you get the worse boots from the silajam, monsters has the ones with +1 agility on them and if you upgrade them you get +2 agi.

I get that. I was just saying that you can beat spider without better boots. A newer guy may have trouble getting the gold required for the good stuff, or not understand the stealing system.

Yeah, that's always a possibility, i usually get the easy 100g from starting the brothel madam questline, that already covers for the boots, the str gloves you get from the giant goddess area and 100g, so that's already 200g and the best gloves for free, doing the questline where you have to beat the goddess in the mountain, you also get 100g and the stamina charm.

Can't seem to find any info on this issue, though I could just be a fool admittedly. Anyone know why this pair of errors is occurring when trying to the launch the windows version, and if so, how I can fix it?
Edit: Might be worth noting that I have played the game in the past successfully, though don't think I've tried a new version for at least a year or so now.
Edit 2 Edit Boogaloo: Seems just re-extracting the game managed to make it playable. Not sure what the original issue was, but seems to be working fine now anyways.

i jus checked, and the mirror links work fine for me, D=mirrors dont work at all
Run it via the exe file is the standard answer for that, I think

I can only remember one encounter that gives gold from the top of my head and that is one of the snake ones where you can fight her for her treasure.
Another way is to just get the chests on the map. Could be Gold or hunger charms (I don't remember the requirements to find it) which you can sell.

Town of monsters has an arena, you just have to pay a 15g entry and win against waves of enemies (you have to fight 3 enemies on each, the second round is harder), you can also camp up in the arena map screen and you can also get Kylira to heal you while you're there, you can stay in the arena until your food runs out, you lose or you go through the map, if you want to you can just farm the two different rounds by just going back and forth, you get 15g per round.
There are gold and artifact chests found around the map, you just have to have +4 in the scout button (the eye at the bottom left on your map screen UI) to avoid mimics or get the hunger relic (you can sometimes get ice cream in the second map from the artifact chests).
Naga treasure encounter gives you some money, if you ambush the ogre during the first encounter you can get 50g if you win, there's undoubtedly others but i cannot remember most of them at the top of my head, it's pretty easy to make money in the game once you know how and what to do.
