if you're like me and don't like questioning your sexuality I found a way to alter the game to replace all male related nouns and pronouns. Or at least most of them.

you will have to do the from scratch method if your jar is not version 0.3.52.1

this method only replaces the enounters.json file which is what holds the majority of all the text in the game however im sure there are other files that would need to be modified to completely replace all pronouns. This method gets like 99% of them so works for me.

i dont know why the devs dont do this it took me less than an hour surely it cant be that hard to create a system that replaces these words. oh well :\

It is good that you found a solution for the problem which can be used by others.

But is this game so powerfull that it can change someone sexuality? I like this gayest shit, but i am nowhere near to clap other mens ass, cause i love huge breasts.

But that IMHO, anyway.

nah i was just joking i wouldnt be playing if it bothered me that much i just prefer woman pronouns

Alright fellas, i got it.

Basically i didn't had a problem just with ToA but pretty much anything that needed Java. I didn't knew that until i tried another game that also used Java and it had the same issue. The thing is, i didn't think it was a Java issue because i could play a few other games that also used Java just fine. HOWEVER, one of them, aka Minecraft, pretty much just fucked up my whole Java by itself bc i needed to use different versions of Java on different versions of the game, so (i think) i had multiple instances of Java installed and it just wouldn't work. Long story short i deleted all the javas i had instaled and reinstalled just one, now the game is working just fine. (y)

TL;DR = I hate java. Thx everyone that tried to help and sorry for the noob mistake :v

good work, you should probably make a script so you can run it for every update

Why not making a same-language translation file with said changes instead?

Both good points i wasnt aware of the translation system and while im at it I(chatgpt) might as well just code a solution as well.

heres an executable that does exactly that

place it next to the jar file run it once it generates a config file. I have filled the config file with some defaults. Change or add anything to youre liking.

run the exe again it will create a new translation folder(and subfolders) if they dont exist and replace all words specified from the existing file into a new one.

launch the game in options switch from english to the newly generated language and it should just work probably...

should work with any version of the game that has this translation system.

Hi!
Found some bugs in story mode:

In encounter STORY_BANDIT_CAMP, node 7 – when you're caught and you have to pay the 50g toll – the "pay 50" branch's gold requirement has no target set: this means you can pay the toll with no gold, instead of going through the gangbang.

Still on the same note, the MapNode for encounter STORY_BANDIT_VILLAGE has DEFAULT as its "default", meaning that you can't trigger the encounter anymore once you've gone through it once. This means that you can't return the gold to the villagers on the way back from the bandit camp – which in turn makes scenes STORY-BANDIT-VILLAGE-CELEBRATE, STORY-BANDIT-VILLAGE-STEAL, STORY-BANDIT-VILLAGE-HERO-RETURN and STORY-BANDIT-VILLAGE-VILLAIN-RETURN unreachable.

Also, i've saved the tricky one for last: when you increase your scouting and stealth level through the dedicated buttons on the map, the bonus is cleared before the encounter you're walking into starts.

E.g.
  • I'm on the map, on the node adjacent to the bandit camp node.
  • I press the stealth button twice, thus reach stealth level 3.
  • I click on the bandit camp node: the Hiro sprite walks into it.
  • The bandit encounter starts, but my stealth level has been reset to level 1.
  • Hence i fail the encounter's stealth check.
  • This means that i have to pay the toll, lest i be gangbanged (oh no).
  • “Fortunately” i can pay with zero gold due to the first issue described in this post.
This bug dates as far back as the middle of last year at least. Curiously, increasing your scouting score before triggering a mimic encounter actually works, though i guess this is due to "mini-encounters" using a different channel than regular encounters.
