How do I unlock the Smoky Stag Tavern?

This game's gameplay is garbage. If you character starts talking you can't skip, each box stays up for eternity, and it goes on, and on, and on, and on. If you click on one of the info buttons each text box takes five minutes to go away, and it also takes forever. You can't skip, can't make it go any faster, you cant leave it on the background and check it later. The fade in and fade out times are also ridiculous.
I only played only through the conversation at the fort, and the game is too infuriating to play further.
