Well thats a bummer but hey, I think you did great finding the resolution values out!

Also im really considering changing the SFX and Music, Damn the moment I turned on sound I regretted it imo

The petting sound and background music in specific. Also mews SFX could also use a change imo

Now that I've messed around with the XML files a bit I think I could make the resolution picker even better. It's pretty easy to parse and write XMLs in .NET, so automating the UI scaling should be pretty straightforward. I'll have to put together some higher resolution buttons to keep it from becoming a blurfest, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

And…yeah, the SFX and Music are generally accurate to the Pokémon Amie minigame. It does kinda ruins the mood when you combine GameBoy SFX with gratuitous lewdity, IMO. :p

So it's been almost a year since I ever posted any updates and after coming back, I found some unused content in the mod version of the game.

There's a fully working and animated Latios in the game that looks like it was near completion at some point but was cut from the final build. There may be a way to restore him in-game, he is missing textures however (which is an easy fix due to them being very similar to the original 3DS models they were based off). (Also, ignore the fact I'm using a newer version of blender, ill use the old version when I feel like porting the models lol). He even has a full config, meaning possibly with a tad bit of effort, he can be restored in-game.

There is also an unused Xerneas. This model is much more incomplete, as the only real edit that has been done is the addition of a vagina and an idle animation. Unlike Latios, Xerneas does have textures that are working and are included but without animations, this model is not really much and just seems to be a concept idea. It might be possible to import Xerneas to the game but with little to no animations (Aside from an idle) this would be pointless IMO.

Now here's an interesting one. In the mod build files, there exists not 1 but a whopping 4 cut Charizard models! These models look to have been cut pretty early, as when loaded into blender, they use the zebstrika textures rather than no textures. These models do have an idle pose and a full rig, however, unlike the previous model's the 4 models lack any privates of any type. Porting this model would be pointless, as at that point you would be making a whole new model. All 4 models seem to have slight to no changes on them, they could have been planned and scrapped really early on.

The last 2 models I wanna talk about are more test models to test the game rather than cut content. The first is tay.blend, which is (I am assuming and correct me if I'm wrong) Tay ferrets sona or something around those lines (Could also be from his half-life mod also, but only assumptions). This model does not do much at all and seems to be missing textures. Im not gonna go into detail because... it's an (assumed) test model. The next is debug.blend which is...a wireframe shape. Another test model?

Before I end this, there is a problem with the mod build, most notably with the zebstrika model. The rig of this model seems to have broke in the mod build. Even when using the recommended build on the mod download website, the rig no longer works which sucks but could be useful as a test slot when trying to re-import these unused models. EDIT: I was wrong, after compiling the model does work as intended.


Thats really it, I might give restoring Latios a shot, as his model seems to be fully complete (Minus textures) and could be game ready when imported. Gotta set up a VM first, since to prevent conflicts with the compiler (it needs specific versions of blender and python) and see if I can bring back latios. Thanks for reading!

Yea! On the games website, there is a build provided for modding/adding Pokémon. The format isn’t too difficult, it’s mostly just the animations and modeling that’s the hard part. I do wonder if you could model swap however, maybe get some higher resolution models instead.

So after using the compile tools, I now have a working latios...kinda.

As you can see here:
textures are missing (I swore I added new textures, could be me using 2.78 instead of 2.73)
His animations seem to be really iffy (Could be another blender issue or unfinished, idk)

Aside from that, he is working and for those who wanna add him, open up build.py and look for an exclude list, remove both "latios.blend" and "latiosScn.blend" and he should compile. I'll do more testing and a recompile, texturing is possible but a pain due to there being no original source textures, and I don't wanna break the model.

This may be why he looks hella stiff at times, some animations might be broken atm. There is a bit more work required to make this model fully work, however, I wanna mess with the textures a bit more and see whats going on with the animations but for the most part, the model works!

Sure can!


Just be aware this uses the Zebstrika button, I will make a custom button for Latios soon. Also, the game has been resolution patched (Thanks Sarkath). If you wanna play at the original resolution, just replace the .exe with the one from the official standard release (Latios will still be available)

Also a tip to anyone making mods for the game and wanna change the resolution, use the official release EXE and not the compiled one. Sarkath's tool does not seem to support the user-compiled EXE files (Most likely hex values are different). (Also wanted to add that changing the EXE has no known negative effects on the mods you are making.)

I'll start working on the custom button, as well as fixing the textures up a bit. Animations tho is probs not gonna be fixed, I don't know how to fix those (and it sucks because there an unused self-suck animation in the .blend) but ill see if it's maybe an XML issue.

Precisely. The resolution tool is pretty primitive and just uses hardcoded hex values. They were most likely relocated in the compiled EXE (different compiler version, slightly modified code…just about anything could cause that to happen).

Thanks for your hard work and congratulations on the release! I'll have to check it out later. :)

Just stumbled across this post and it's really neat how after some digging around you guys managed to make a mod that adds a whole new character to the game. And the resolution pack is the cherry on top!

I hope there will be more mods for this game in the near future.

Blender 2.73 and textures are a huge pain in the ass. Most of the UV-based features are on 2.80+, attempting to compile with those versions breaks the game. I am not even sure how I could dismantle the model so I could fix all of the textures one by one which sucks, unfortunately. I'll keep cracking at it, worst case scenario is just simplifying the textures completely and calling it a day, hoping someone with legacy blender knowledge can come to the rescue.

I wish that the original latios textures were left in the game, it almost feels intentional that they were removed since there are full UVs for the textures still intact.

Also about the button, I will get to work on that soon, it should be an easy process.

I'm curious now, is are possible to port this game to new versions of Blender?

It might, the creator even offered to port it to a newer version of blender but honestly I kinda doubt he would anymore, last update was like 2019-2020.

It could be possible, however I noticed in newer blender builds the textures get lost and need to be re-imported (no biggie) but that begs the question, what other problems might there be? Also I think the script might need some adjusting too, which I know the bare minimum of python so it would be a bunch of trial and error.

I’ll have a look when I am able to again and fiddle with it more, I just hate how much of a pain in the ass this is with textures

I've been waiting for Umbreon to be released for forever, then she gets skipped and now the games done lol XD


Edit: Forgot to edit this, I mixed up Amie and Off-White, but still...not like that's getting finished either
