Hey! So I was originally planning to make this mandatory, but now I'm thinking about ways to make it optional instead. Quick question though - is it the scene itself that's the issue, or specifically seeing the character's genitals? If it's just the explicit visuals, I could totally work around that by not showing those particular renders/animations.
Skipping the whole scene might be a bit trickier to implement. The thing is, the female demon character plays an important role in the story, and creating multiple versions (male demon, female demon, female with strapon) would get pretty expensive production-wise.
I'd really like to gauge how players feel about this. If keeping the scene but just avoiding the explicit genital shots works for people who aren't into that content, that's definitely something I can do!
My opinion and thoughts, and I can only speak for myself, is that;
1) I don't enjoy seeing a 'futa' or "chick with dick" or whatever you want to call it. Personally, its not going to make me avoid a game, but it doesn't 'do anything for me' and I really don't care to see it.
2) If said Futa is having some kind of sexual contact with the MC or a female sexual partner of the MC. Then I am out / 'igore'.
So if you have a scene in the game where a futa demon is floating in the air talking to the MC and discussing something... Well, while I don't really care to see its junk. Thats something I deal with.
If its a case where said futa-demon were to have some kind of sexual contact with the MC or one of the MC's female sexual partners, than I am done/out/Ignore.
It might help to clarify what I (and I suspect a good many others) define 'Avoid/Avoidable' as;
That is that (Whatever Content) that is avoidable, can be, by the players choice and actions, prevented from happening or otherwise made to happen in such a way that the "avoidable thing" does not happen.
Avoidable does not mean Skippable, Missable or Hide-able (not sure if the last one is a real word, I am ESL so forgive me)
An example of avoidable;
The MC is at a party with his girlfriend. The MC has the choice to drink wine or vodka.
If he drinks vodka, he passes out and his girlfriend dances with his best friend
If he drinks wine, she dances with him.
An example of Skippable/Missable/Hide-able;
The MC after drinking his wine and dancing with his girlfriend needs to urinate.
He can go to the toilet on the ground floor, or the toilet on the second floor.
If he goes to the ground floor toilet he sees a couple having sex.
If he goes to the second floor toilet he just goes pee.
Avoidable = the choice changes what actually happens.
Skippable/Missable/Hide-able = (whatever Content) still happens, the player just has the ablitlty to chooses not to see it.
Sorry if I am being long winded and overly simplistic, but I want to ensure I convey exactly what I am meaning.
So with all that being said;
In my opinion - Skippable is not going to win you much support from the players that do not like specific content. Avoidable is generally more tollerated. As it gives players the agency to select what happens.
Though I would add that, it's your game, you should do whatever you feel is best. All I expect as a player/potental supporter is that you are transparent and honest with what you A)Have in your game and B)Are planning to put in your game.
As a solo dev, making differing content can be a challenge, my advice (again, one man's opinion) is that you decide if the addition of the options or indeed the 'difficult' content is worth the added workload and potential financial beenfits/loss (if money is even a factor in your decision making process).
Only you can decide that.
In the spirit of being completely transparent, I should point out (though its in my signature, but some poeple have those disabled). That while I do support various projects financially, I do not and never will support games that have, or intend to add content I personally dislike. Things like FUTA and NTR are primarly on that list.
Long post, but I hope it offers you some value.
Good luck.
