v.71 review
Wow.
I remember trying out a VERY early version of this game and I didn't even write a review as it was a buggy incomprehensible mess. But when it was re-uploaded to version .71 and I saw the other reviews I thought I'd give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did.
So first off, it's not a perfect game, lets get that out of the way. There's still a few bugs and the initial learning curve to playing is a little steep, but once you get over that, it's smooth sailing. Other than that, I can't think of anything negative to say about the game other than I wish there was more content! But that's the curse of games in development, isn't it?
Now, onto what makes this game excellent:
First of all, I love CCG and deck builder games. Slay the spire and those types of games have totally dominated my life for the last few years, and going all the way back to the 90s, Magic The Gathering. So this is an actual somewhat unique take on the whole deck builder genre. Especially since of the three rounds you fight through, you basically reset your deck back to the start. This lets you get a bit of variation and what might be a killer build in round one might not work in round two. On the other hand, you might use the easier rounds to fine tune your strategy and build from there in later harder rounds.
There are different transformations, effectively "classes" that you can play as, Bimbo, Maid, Hucow, and a WHOLE lot of locked ones that I don't want to spoil for you. The three transformations, or classes, essentially play the same... but yet also don't. They each have a different mechanic that makes their play style different enough to be interesting. Interesting enough that I spent hours playing, unlocking, and trying out each of the various classes, as I was eager to see how they'd play.
As fap material, this game is serviceable, and if you want that, you can focus on that. But I was actually drawn in by the game itself. Enjoying it more than some games I've bought on steam lately.
I do have one bit of constructive criticism however. Essentially the draw mechanic is far too powerful. Almost every build can 'win' by just stacking draw cards that have other effects. Especially if you get a class that is able to remove basic cards from the deck, you can run through your whole deck each turn, stacking up TF, and resources, and just ez-moding the way through things.
But over all I can't believe how many hours I spent playing this game and this one is a must watch for future updates. Especially because of the nature of the way the game is laid out, it seems obvious that the dev is going to add in future 'classes' or transforms, as well as body mods, new card sets, etc in the future.
Even if TF isn't your bag, give this one a look.

Yeah that thing I said about draw being overpowered? It is in early games, but as you start getting deeper into ascension it can screw you over. So I take back my comment that the draw mechanic is overpowered.
Side note, I can't stop playing this game. Can I give it 6 stars?
