Ren'Py - The Awakening [v0.4.5b] [SLim Games]

The first thing I would start with is the inaccurate release date
given on F95zone saying Version: 0.4.5b release date is 2025-01-14,
when Version: 0.4.5b been around since at least November of 2024 .

Now onto the game, without the walkthrough mod the game
will be pretty much unplayable, since there are no hints given
without it and you won't have any idea what you are supposed
to do, so that mod is a must. And the mod made by Shawn Chapp
is really good and helpful.

The game itself is fun, but it's one of those games where
sex often doesn't take place or is stopped in favor of a hand job or
foot job or something similar, this is a problem as the fairy in the
game needs love energy which must happen from the MC
penetrating the vagina with his penis, something else is
sometimes the MC penetrates a vagina and the game developer
forgot to connect it as love energy to the fairy, as in the case of
the Librarian where the MC penetrates vaginally the Librarian
but has no love energy to give the fairy, because the game
developer forgot to put it in the game.

Another issue I had was how sometimes in the game there is
audio for the voices and sometimes not, and it's random
like one scene text with no audio voices, next scene text
with audio voices, next scene back to text with no audio voices,
next scene text with audio voices, and it does this repeatedly.
It's like the maker of the game can't decide if he wants text only
or text with audio voices, and keeps changing his mind repeatedly,
it gets annoying.

As for the good, the characters are all drawn nicely,
the fairy concept is fun, the sister is a gem in the game
[meaning she is a very likeable character] , and obviously
you want to learn the mysteries of the MC's past.

I think the game has potential 3.5 stars

Review of [v0.4.5b]

Click and Point game where you arrive at a house and try to fuck everything that moves. Plus there is a good reason for you to do it, if you don't you WILL DIE!

I find the story very interesting, you wake up in the hospital after an accident and you don't remember anything but step by step you have to realize things.

I don't personally like the fantasy part much, although it's not bad either.

• Voice acting is nice and makes the scenes HOT
• The part of helping your classmates and others is very good

• From the end of the game the voice acting turns off
• There hasn't been a real update in a while...

I hate to give such a low score as i really wanted to like this game but i couldn't even get through it given how bad it is.

The main story is nonexistent and the small story arcs don't make any real sense, the bully story is a perfect example,
The MC's attitude and personality are like the choices all over the place, the main story has him as a white knight which is ok some of the time but a lot of it makes no sense like the Linda tripping incident, after being humiliated publicly by her he then offers and does her help while at the same time he is angry at Jim for humiliating him privately, double standards are not a good look for an MC and finally you have the totally out of character optional "choices" that make him even worse.

As bad as the MC is the main character problems come from the horrible LI's, they are rude, aggressive, controlling, deceitful, selfish, a straight up bully, honestly i cant think of a single positive trait any of them showed.

The sandbox is very badly done, not only is it once again completely unnecessary but it makes everything out of order as events you haven't done are mentioned in another girls story line giving you mini spoilers throughout the game.

Choices let you at least skip stuff at the start but once you enter the sandbox part all of that is over as you are forced to play girls routes even if you hate them and no matter what they don't change the MC's attitude, he still wants and will be nice to them regardless of any choices.

The two redeeming features of the game are the totally amazing art quality which is second to none and the quality of the game which puts professional VN's to shame.

I really wanted to keep playing but i couldn't find a reason, no interesting story, bad characters i don't care about with no mystery behind them as you can see them naked at anytime, fake choices and a really bad sandbox that constantly gives minor spoilers.

This ia perfect Sandbox game, with most of its stopryline left in dev limbo. The best part about this game is its uniques way of player interaction during sex scenes that uses users mouse to adjust pace and angle. and the renders of this game is exequite.

I just hope there was something much more to write about, because as of now I can't give this uncompleted empty game moire than 4

As the developer replaces some of the older content with newer, I become less satisfied with this game, and I believe the game is getting worse. The newer content has better models and animation, but it's a kinetic novel. The older content feels like playing a game. The newer content often has a single button to push which, whatever it says, just means "continue". It really looks like the only reason the dev is focusing on the looks over the play is that play is more difficult and multiple paths require a different more advanced coding skill set than a linear script does.

Not bad. Would give 3.5 stars if I could. The premise is fun. The models are hot. The animations are hit or miss. The scenes have some interesting mechanics that I don't see elsewhere. Also they flow pretty well.

The parts I don't like is the sandbox structure of the game makes everything feel disjointed, and I don't get much sense of a story here. The characters are generic and the updates have been so infrequent, so I end up forgetting them when it's time to play the new content. The saving grace here is the journal that logs the main character events you've seen and provides hints on what to do next.

Should have the kinetic novel tag. Likes to pretend you have choices, you can choose the choice that you like (usually the more rational choice) then it will force you to make the other choice anyway leading to a completely irrational choice from the protagonist that's just annoying and pointless. Unfortunate because the graphics are legitimately pretty good but far too infuriating to play.

Okay, I went through all the content that is in the game at the moment. It took a week.

What can I say?
Overall, the game is not bad, but far from the best I've played.

In some places I laughed like crazy at some situations and jokes.
In some places I caught cringe.

There is a lot of content in the game and it is quite sad that after such a long development time, apparently not even half was finished. A real long-term project.

You can clearly identify moments that were originally different, but then were redone.
It looks like it was put together from scraps. For example, I'm sure the beginning was changed. But that's not the point.

One possible problem is the unhurried pace of the story. This won't suit everyone.
This is the case when you don’t want to jerk off to a porn game. The intensity of the 18+ content is simply not enough to make the player cum.

Therefore, I would give either 3+ or 4-
It really takes a lot of time to complete and I can’t say that it fully pays off.

Also, we play as a MC who is a bit of an asshole. The game encourages lying, manipulation, and dirty deeds. It doesn't require you to be adequate. It is made in such a way that you, on the contrary, act dishonestly and ugly.
Normally - this aspect of games doesn't make me uncomfortable. But specifically here it didn't really appeal to me and directly resonated with me. Because I would have liked to do things differently in some situations, but I realized that in that case - I would lose something. So the game, in order to unlock all the content, forces you to act not the way you want, but the way the author wanted.

The “elections without choice” also made me laugh. At any stage, you can simply press one button to go back and select a different answer. So all these "wrong" choices in games like this are just a rudiment. They don't work. Who in their right mind would deliberately ignore the opportunity to go back and continue the game, choosing a less successful path?

Considering the above, in this case, I see the point in making the game more like a visual novel.

I like the animations and the addition of voice acting is a nice little bonus that most renpy games don't offer. The renders for the characters are nice and it looks nice overall.

That's about all the positives i can give as this game offers a fairly generic story where the MC must fuck people to survive which we've seen before, has a cast of people that really offer nothing to the story and has you constantly skipping dialogue due to how poor the writing is.

The MC is incredibly unlikable and it feels like this game will never be finished with the slow development on it.

It's just an okay game in my opinion. MC's a bit of a paper bag, but it kinda makes sense since he has amnesia. The premise is nice. The music is okay. The girls are just okay as well but nothing about them really makes me care about them or their story, like there's no real depth to them. The writing also feels off which is part of it, it doesn't sound like how anyone would actually talk or think in most cases. There's also a clash in the new and old art currently but that will get fixed in time I'm assuming.

All in all it's just okay. It's a fun enough play though if anything but nothing makes it stand out from the others in my opinion.

Reviewing v0.4.4a(but i gave up long before the end of the whole game so far)

Premise: there is nothing good worth mentioning in this game aside how good MC's mom looks, that's it. Now i can talk about everything else, but if someone thinks "But Demoness the game gets good LATER", i ask "Then Why isn't good NOW!?"

Story: unoriginal, uninspired, i can name 4 games with similar plot who still managed to not making such plot as boring as this developer did with this game. People reading this, i hope they read the synopsis, ultimately is the usual "fuck people to survive, and a reveal tells us that MC is a Chosen One or something"

Characters: Here i'm going to put under spoiler-tab a list of the characters i met before giving up and why i don't like them


Ultimately these characters feel flat, uninspired, boring, and some (if not all) of their decisions unbelievable, like withholding informations that can help MC, and stuff like that. Mostly the fact that everyone believes anything they get told without proofs, is what annoyed me the most aside the sister as a whole.

By commenting the characters, i commented the plot in the detail. I want to end it here, i'll end it by saying that the animations are mostly smooth, but it's not something i care about, the voices are weird and the reason i muted the game. Goodbye.

Been playing for ~5 hours. Graphics look really nice, the polt might be good, I didn't get too far. The main problem I had and why I stopped is the MC. He is fucking moron (or maybe he's just not believable).
Hope the dev considers revising him, so my problems wit him:
- His dick looks average, but everyone just gushes over it like it's the best thing in the world.
- At times he acts like asexual and others like a perv. No consistency here.
- He's an idiot, doesn't recognize the obvious things, has no emotional intellect. Gets warned that the school is corrupt and that the best students are the worst, gets tricked by them 1 second later.
- Gets emotional over the stupidest things and the he's all zen when actually weird shit is happening.
-This poor naive soul gets hung up on others being unfair to him, but when you want to go the sexiest route, acts borderline rapey, like he's schizo or something.
- List goes on, can't remember all the stuff at the time of writing it. Overall I'd say he lacks character and agency and while first could be excused by memory loss, second isn't.

In conclusion really well made game that's hard to stomach, cause you are playing as a moron. Sorry to the dev, if I'm too harsh.

This VN has been around for a while and I loved it. The development was slow, but every time I saw in the latest update list I would download and see what was up.

I also liked the revamped version and was really looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Now, all of a suddenly, it is some stupid, lame ass point and click, sandbox crap. I mean... why??? I don't want to have to search for laundry and do chores. I want a story. And then the scenarios went from good to back tracking to old school VNs like the MC getting busted for holding panties. Seriously... how can a game that was pretty original turn into such a shit show?

I normally don't get too passionate about these things, but I was so upset when I played this latest version. I don't know if the beginning of the game has been changed to this stupid format, but I am not going to bother to find out.

Way to ruin what was once a really interesting and engaging start.

I wanted to like this game. No, scratch that, I DID like this game; the entire revamped portion is really good, in fact. And if the creator follows through and does to the rest of it what he's done to the initial portion, then this might be a 4 or 5-star game. But right now, all the revamped content just highlights the jarring difference in quality in both renders and writing.

I appreciate that the creator improved their craft or got help, one of the two, maybe both, but if you're going to do that, perhaps have the two versions exist side by side rather than try to fit them in the same version. The characters and story of the prologue are not what you get in the rest of the game, and it's jarring enough to take you out of it.

I want to spend more time with the Abby and Liz of the prologue, and I don't even mind being the guy from the prologue, but I like none of them in the rest of the game. Even within the unrevised portion of the game, there are inconsistencies, best illustrated in the following spoiler:


I tried sticking with the game, hoping that perhaps it would improve to the point where it reminded me of the prologue, but when I got to the typical "shopping" portion and I have no choice but to watch my character be a total asshole to everyone he meets, I decided I was done for now. I'll come back when the rest of the game catches up to the prologue. Which I hope happens eventually, because I do kinda want to find out what the deal was with the tattooed guy in the prologue. (Assuming that wasn't just a JJ Abrams-esque mystery box.)

(On a technical note, there are "game elements" but they feel pointless. Like a "job" that you can go to repeatedly and earn hundreds of dollars playing the easiest sorting minigame ever without time really passing. That's another thing, there's no real sense of the passage of time, things just sort of happen in their own bubble of reality.)

If you've got the time and patience, the prologue is worth checking out, but when the game gives the warning going forward, go ahead and end it there, you'll feel better about the overall experience.

The basic for the story is pretty good but it feels flat and boring since its just another fuckfest game when it comes to it.
MC is a dude the lost hes memory after being in a coma for 2 years, when he woke up something had apprently changed him so he now has power to mind controle people.
So its a pretty decent story setup with potential, even started out with some nice voice acting.

But it gets utterly destroyed by all the shit forced on you as explained below, game becomes unplayable if you dont want to watch ALL the kinks and fetishes, since you have 0 controle over what you see.

And keep in mind this game has a heavy focus on big tits and milfs plus the weird idea of tits growing none stop the older ya get.....
There are a few with more normal and maybe even one LI with small tits but thats about it.

The worst part is that you dont have any choices, not sure why they dident add a kinetic tag to this game, but maybe at one point you might be able to miss a scene or someting i dunno, but you dont even deside who you want to fuck, it dosent matter how much you hate a LI, like a stupid femdom teacher talking down to you, is still someone MC wants to have a relationship with.
Games like this is just not in my taste at all.

First time you see a forced LI.
In a hunted house you fuck some weird random girl you never met, after your fairy told you its dangerous and you need to get out, but insted MC desides to fuck this weird random chick who dosent even talk.....none of this makes any sense, it would be the last thing he should do since Liz is also right next to hes room....very poorly written story that is turning in to just another fuckfest game with no emotions or feelings making it a pointless game with a messy story, MC dosent even remember it happened for unknowen reasons? but it dosent change the fact he still made the choice to fuck her with no choice to the player.

Even from the start of the game i was a bit annoyed how the game showed you this new found ability x-ray for MC, it forces you to watch things like your mothers huge tits which i truely hate, i am just not into big tits in any way, so a bit more controle would have been nice, but it gets much worse.

It happens all the time, even when you pick up your mothers phone you get the option look throught it, no clue why since thats the only option you get and it only to force you to look at a pictures of the mothers huge ugly tits.....why.....hole game is just one turn-off after the other.

Even though its MC dreaming you will be forced to watch the mother/sister giving MC a blowjob, its just very shitty when you hate watching it, nothing should be forced on you, not in dreams or anywhere else, game is supposed to be about choices and not kineticly force things on you, or atleast thats what i thought....it shows no respect for the players kinks/fetish but instend forces them on you, and it will do so over and over again, next dream is an ugly teacher in a femdom scene both something i hate.

Another annoying part is the childish MC who has a fetish for big tits, so he has to look at them all the time and cant think stright, never really understod why so many games does this, instend of letting the players think for them self if something it hot or not, or atleast wait untill the players has shown any kind of intrest in the LI before turning hes thought process into a 12 year old.

Choices are also stupid not just that LIs is forced on you but also the storyline it self, first you see of this is with Linda, talk or ignore her if you ignore her she trips your legs and you talk to her, then be honest or help her, if you pick honest you end out using corruption on her to go back in time to pick help her instend, so its all fake choices to hide the kinetic story it really is, even the dialogs is a mess if your help first chance or use corruption MC thinks she talked him into it even when he dident want to help, but the thing is it was MC that used corruption to change it to help her after saying no so it feels a bit stupid...

Its even more stupid when ever you try to turn down a LI like the mother game simply just dosent allow you to, it forces you to use corruption to change the choices you had to one single choice so you can seduce her, so wtf is the point of giving the players fake choices constantly.

Music is pretty good and mostly has music that fits the scenes, the voice acting is really nice when its there.

When it comes to the girls there was really not much in my taste, i dont like big tits and there is a ton of LIs with big tits and barely any with small or even normal, there should have been a better mix of builds.

Not really sure why they made a sandbox so far into the game, but it dosent make game any better or more fun in any way.

Animations are very good and its the only thing game has going for it, but it cant save a bad story and the lack of choices and the 0 respect for players kinks/fetishes since its just forced on you and having LIs forced on you, game truely has to many of the bad things, and it only made game unplayable to me so it goes without saying its a 1 star review.

This is a game that has amazing production value (great renders, character models and animations) but has really mediocre to subpar everything else. The characters in this game are pretty unappealing personality wise and feel bland and uninteresting in both their dialogue and their "inner conflicts." The corruption in this game doesn't even feel satisfying as it feels as if the game is constantly battling being a romance harem and a corruption harem but it just can't choose what it wants to be.

The story isn't really even a story and more just there as an excuse to build up a harem. The characterization of the main character is pretty inconsistent going from the prologue to the story. He turns out to be the typical corruption pervert type of MC, not smart, charasmatic or appealing but everything always works out for him somehow. The voice acting is pretty inconsistent (I.E it's not there for most scenes and... the absolute best it can be described at is average) but at least it's better than nothing, certainly just having voice acting is a positive.

The amount of content in this game is... actually surprising little for how long this game has been out now (5 years). Of all other game's that I've played that have been out for this long or even for a shorter amount of time like 3 or four years they all have substantially more content. As for the h-scenes themselves they can only really be described as... average overall. Of course they have great animations and renders but the dialogue is pretty awful and short.

I wouldn't say this game is bad overall... It's just average but is really nothing more than Fap material

Review of v0.4.3b

The Awakening has by far the biggest disparity between production values and writing quality out of all AVNs I've played. The visuals and animations are top notch; you even quickly get access to a sort x-ray power to see beneath women's clothes, adding sex appeal to some dull scenes (though assumedly adding a lot of render time). There is also voice acting (the only AVN I've played with any), and while its quality is inconsistent - one actress reads all of their character's lines in an amateur, monotone "sultry" voice, which sounds so unrealistic it could be in comedy skit - some of it is genuinely okay.

But the writing is seriously mediocre. The plot is medium, the characters are 2D, the relationships don't feel meaningful, and worst of all, the mc is unlikable. He's a douchebag (at one point he tells his mom she is too old to wear some clothing), dumb, the opposite of charming, unconfident, and a wimp. However, the line-by-line writing is fine, so the game is playable.

The sex scenes are a microcosm of the game's problems: the high production values make them look hot, but the mediocre writing makes it hard to connect to them.

The game currently feels very short, with relationship arcs which feel 20%-50% done depending on the character.

I don't know for how long this game has been in development, but atm is like about 10% complete. And that is a bloody shame because what we have is so damn good! But is not enough..... It seems like the developer had the bright idea to remake the game instead of finishing it in the first place..... The game is practically in a frankenstein state atm.

I love it, graphically it is spectacular, the only bad thing is the time it takes to update, but it is worth it. The story is very good and engaging, I hope the Dev continues on this path. My five stars for a great game.
