Of course, happy to do so. I know it's a touchy topic and something needing a rework or not is difficult to judge compared to just continuing the story. I understand some creators having that need because everyone grows over time and starts seeing "gaps" in their previous work. For the Big Beyond I can say this.. I really try to avoid remaking things and I would much rather add new ones because the future story for this game is so broad and long that the finish line is galaxies away. On the other hand, since I plan on releasing on steam in the future I would need to get some older things at the very beginning of the game up to a standard so players are not put off at the start without even seeing the best parts. I had to do updates like this (quick and lower in quality) when starting development, it was unavoidable to progress to where we're at now.
So - what is now 100% is that Kate (the black haired petite girl) will have a completely new story arc (her character will stay the same). I'm now working on some interior scenes which will allow the player to "house" some girls through the game. I'll use this mechanic with her character and incorporate her much better and make the story more engaging (with more scenes and gradual escalation of course). This will all happen a few updates from now, hard to tell just yet. The wording for this is tricky because this will be a complete overhaul of her story and not even a "remake" in the classical sense that people think of when talking about games like this. It will 100% be worth playing through with the amount of new content and will also serve as a gameplay mechanic unlocker, so it all ties together neatly. I think most people wouldn't have a problem with this approach if I just explain it correctly - but please, I'd like to hear what you and others think of this as well.
Just as a very broad concept - when a game like this (more sandboxy and open world) gets more developed, more and more opportunities arise to make cool approaches, quests and stories. So in the beginning you're very limited in that sense. Some games which are much more linear have much less wiggle room to work with and their "remakes" tend to also be less like overhauls and more like re-paints. That is the main reason I'm gonna push towards new content much much more for the time being. Sorry for writing so much, I hope I'm not boring you. I just wanted to explain as I could
