He's darker and edgier, not an asshole or an idiot. He works with the Doctor because the Doctor is an important part to his future and could ruin him if pissed off. And when Doc does overstep, Edgezuku DOES put him in his place with coercion and intimidation. But he can't go around doing it all the time or the Doc wouldn't help him find the people who hurt Inko and put them down like the dogs they are.

As for the love interests, he has no reason to bully them. For one, he likes them. For two, he needs them to power his quirk. So being an asshole would be counterproductive and stupid.

Finally, as far as the teachers go, well, they're his teachers. They're kinda important as far as graduation goes, and Edgezuku would still very much like to graduate from the most prestigious high school in Japan because obviously. So some amount of sucking up is required regardless.

There's a reason moral behavior is considered such. Pro-social behavior isn't just healthy and nice, it's unironically a more effective means of getting your way than anti-social behavior.
All right, it's settled, now the official name of the mc outside the game is Edgezuku, ahahahahaha :KEK:. Since the community has decided so, who are we to go against it . As for what you said, there's nothing to add. You see the protagonist the way we wanted to show it. It's good that at least we're doing this as we intended.

I guess I just don't understand what the point of this whole re-imagining was. You re-invent the MC as a more edgy, more complicated character that is more willing to act decisively to reach his goals but then that just gets undercut over and over again by him being led by the nose by every single character in the game.

The Dr., his teachers, his LOs. They all just tell him to do stuff and not ask questions and he just does. He'll act tough for a second before going along with whatever someone else wants. He has important goals to reach with high stakes but sure let's let these zany characters waste our time with their bullshit and maybe eventually they'll get around to your priorities. Why make him dark just to make him everyone's bitch?

Why remake him like this if he isn't going to employ coercion, intimidation and manipulation to further his goals? He should be putting people in their place, not enduring their trials.
To be fair, we should mention that we emphasize the personality of our character in the game description. And as you can see, he is far from the character you were expecting. Therefore, we cannot say that we have deceived your expectations.

I guess that's fair but I would argue there's a lot of space between what he his in this game and him being a complete bastard that forgot what it means to be human. You aren't exploring that space at all.

You didn't have to create a dynamic where every other character wants to boss him around and make him do whatever. Being someone that refuses to go along with things and insists on being treated with respect doesn't make you bad. It makes you someone that is resolute and your own boss.

I just find it odd that he's found all this willpower to fight gangs and work with dubious characters but he still allows himself to be treated like such a doormat at school.

To be honest, we can't understand why you consider Edgezuku a dormat. He has shown many times that he is ready to defend his borders (as previously said about the doctor, all the bakugo moments). When he needs to be harsh, he will do it. Yes, he can indulge girls, but it's also because of the reasons Karnewarrior described above.

An example of when he could have acted like a bastard is not saving Koyama and using the corrupt police chief, but he chose not to. In response to the first paragraph.

I guess I find him to be indulgent to an extreme amount.

It's just hard to reconcile him being so conflict-avoidant or even cowardly in some aspects of his life but welcoming conflict in others. If feels like he's badass and the furthest thing from badass all at the same time.

He doesn't let Ochako control the relationship with Asui though? He legitimately goes up to her and asks her to stop. Literally the opposite of being a doormat... Especially since he was getting sex out of the deal.

He's not conflict-avoidant at all, you just have unrealistic and unreasonable expectations for how demanding he's supposed to be from others. I think you might need to take a look at yourself if this is what you see as "not a doormat". What you're describing is the very anti-social behavior I was talking about in my last post.
