Anything is possible. Shit happens and people makes mistakes.
Honestly, I'd rather they push it further now than when It's three or two days before release. That's just cruelty, man.
It does look like there are a lot of bugs from the beta progress report.
I would rather wait a little longer than encounter a bunch of bugs while playing.

TBH if there are a loads ton of bugs it is highly probable they will delay until February. Shit takes a lot of time to patch expecting not adding new bugs at the same time.
At least the release date wasn't Jan 6th. It would have been a riot.

The next version is the full completed version releasing on 17th. But there is also a DLC coming afterwards.
