Because many folks who are not professional software developers do not understand what the terms "alpha", "beta", and "release" actually mean. Worse yet, any piece of software where the design is still in flux isn't even in alpha. There are way too many games on this site that are still having major aspects of their design changed (Portals of Phereon comes to mind) after public release.
Technically speaking, this game isn't an alpha. It's not even a beta. The previous version, IMO, was essentially a complete game. It just left the door open for further content/chapters.

(*) How you access the Web Developer Tools or the Console depends on which web-browser & operating system you are using, I suggest using google to find out.
Both Chrome and Firefox, it's F12 on the keyboard.
Don't know about IE/Edge or others.
Let me rephrase then... I don't care about others, because I don't use them.
IE's always been crap, and I honestly don't care about Edge. So long as Firefox and Chrome are windows compatible, I won't have to care.

So saw a person asking how where they put in Sugarcube.State.variables into modify stats. You press F12 on Chrome and Firefox (haven't test IE, Safari or Edge and I assume neither has anyone else) and a window should apear and where it says Console should be an arrow, click next to the arrow and type in Sugarcube.State.variables and then press enter. This will bring collapsible list and in that list you can edit pretty much everything in the game stats wise as well as toggle flags. I don't really mess with flags. The stats that you might want to remember (and the ones that mess with most things) are DoseCD which affects if you can dose a person again that day (can't figure out how to get the serum's to not increase the cooldown/CD), Love, Dom (some characters like Tasha need higher dom amount for progression) and Lust which all appear in a drop down of each character, Then there's time manipulation which is under the label time (duh) and only stat I'd suggest messing with in here is cTime which is short for current time and ranges from 0-6 which are early morning = 0 to late night = 6

it's not F12 for Mac, but I don't have one so I can't test it. Thus why I suggested that the original poster looks it up.
Confess? Is that what happens when you give her a 5th dose? So far, I haven't been able to give any of the office people more than 4 doses.
I got the alpha 5.5.0 and in the same folder there's the pics folder but pictures won't show for me... o.o

ye. after the 4th dose you can give penny a 5th dose after a while which says something that with it she confesses her love to you or something like that. but i just get a blank page once i want to do that. it has been told here before and the issue why its not possible is because apparently you are not allowed to mod it to get past 4th dose ... huuuh ?? in which way modding. those cheats ? or some kind of different modding
Did you extract the contents of the archive file to your local hard-drive?
yep that's a secondary HDD I got, it used to work in the last version but not now...
Did you install to an empty folder or copy over files in an existing folder? As a general rule you should always make a clean install of each new version. Saves are stored elsewhere, so you won't lose them. Just delete the contents of your game's main folder (the HTML file and the entire pics folder) and extract the files anew from the archive.
