Is the game ended at chapter 5? John betrayed us in my playthrough and it seems like i got the bad end, is this intended or i'm missing something?

Why do you miss the drawn version?
Is it kind of like real art vs ai art?
I never tried it. It's not that I'm only pro Real porn or anti custom art...
In fact, usually the real porn is so terrible that it's hard to play these games.
They change actors from clip to clip which ruins it for me. I know it's hard to source
reliable clips and such but still....
It's been a while since I've played The Company but it seems like I remember they did
one of the best jobs around w the porn they used.

well, at least the drawn ver pic is consistent.. and the "model" is much better than random pornstar.. it been a long time since i played this game too.. there used to be chapter 1 drawn ver here.. was checking if there is any update on the drawn ver.. but it seems to be removed
Just sharing my findings here. Dom John route seems to be bugged. After submitting to Tasha multiple times in lift and also when she is fucking Penny, nothing happening. As per Wiki I should have gotten to next stage in evening soon. But even after 3 weeks of game time nothing happening.
It is a good branch which I missed in my previous play through but it's quite sad that it's bugged or so. Anyways maybe problem lies with my MC who has become sissy a trans sissy anyways. Good branch but Diana events not starting, or they were removed as I was not able to find them too

Not a huge surprise, but I'm still looking forward to the dev's next game.
Conceptually I like her releasing the source code for the company but also I'm certain nothing's gonna be done with it.

We have a few people on the Discord already digging in. Fingers crossed! But in case people need a quick TLDR;
-The Company is On Hold until 2026
-2024 was a shit show for Westane and it started to affect the writing. DomJohn ending how it did was not the goal but it was clear that Westane was burnt out and The Company was suffering for it
-SourceCode for The Company is now Public. Mod, edit, created, go nuts!
-Brothel in the Woods is the new game but has The Company DNA in it.
-BiTW is mainly there to get Westane's love of writing and also to get something new out and about as The Company is planned to return in 2026.
-BiTW has Three Image Packs built in (AI, Hentai, and Live Action)
-More focused on stuff like The Pit but there are 6 characters to romance, enjoy, and further the goal of growing out a Brothel
-Nothing is set in stone but Transformation, more identity, etc will be looked at after BiTW leaves Alpha
-Brothel in The Woods launches with 1 hour of content. Pretty hefty and completely free within the Alpha Phase

it'll have it's own page. Westane will reach out to the mods for the page after this weekend so the build isn't entirely busted on release to the f95 public. His Patrons, Supporters, and discord followers have it now.

It's too bad after 7 years the game will likely end up with an abandoned tag instead of a complete tag. I get the desire to try a different type of game. 7 years of your life on one game could definitely cause some burnout. Resource gathering is becoming quite the thing in adult games.

Westane seems very adamant that The Company will be finished in 2026. but a long year long break is necessary since DomJohn's ending was the clear sign that the writing was already taking a dive. This could end up saving TC instead of forcing out a shit ending and letting it be the finale
Coming back to a massive game like the Company after a year trying to remember what variables did what, what characters motivations were, etc wouldn't be easy. Also the release of all the source code and encouraging members to have at it – along with the release of a new game – tends to make me think it's not a realistic outcome.

Well the other big thing is the game is already falling apart in many areas. It basically needs a good long and deep clean up but doing nothing but that and trying to please supporters, trying to not break The Company further, etc. it's just piling on stress.
Westane seemingly mentioned basically cleaning the game alongside developing the new game just so that when he's burnt out on coding, he can write for BitW. If he's tired of writing, he can clean up The Company little by little.
The main thing is just not dumping everything all at once and just doing little by little until The Company is ready to be returned having basically made sure it's working.
Basically getting a chance to do something new all the while getting an entire year to touch up and get TC in working area is the plan.
Looks like a case of severe burnout.
Alas RL does not wait nor spoil and a year from now on the dev might have new issues to deal with that will hinder with the game development.
Never mind if he decides to start a new game for some fresh ideas (or to earn money to support the current one), goes into scope creep mode (which results in an even bigger burnout than before), gets some long lasting sickness/depression or his job gets even busier than before (or ends up unemployed).
Plus after tasting the joys of taking a break from such a tiresome endeavor one might look for all excuses possible and then some to extend said joy once the break period is about to end.
I'd say 80% chance it will end abandoned. Tends to happen almost always with games that continue for like half a decade or more. Only the luckiest, most talented and most masochistic devs emerge victorious from such an outstanding chore...and even more than a few of those tend to cut some promised/expected content in order to have it actually released at all.
Too bad.

Hopefully the haitus will be just that and the game will continue. The company was one of the first games of this genre that I played and it and the community around it helped me get into writing my own, so I'm hopeful that it will complete as it is close to doing so. In the meantime I wish the creators well and will check out the new game when it gets released.
The dev is currently releasing a new game? Interested to see whats up with that. Tough to hear this game is on pause. Such an amazing game lol.

Check the Discord or the Patreon. It's currently in Alpha but once it leaves it, it'll start to release on F95.
