I just found some projects that are rev-share and they include a GDD in their post. Oblivious its not from the F95 community. Why is the case that no posts on this community create a GDD?
They only produce a janky outline of a bad story and some wonky description of 50 female characters?

I always feel like there is no game developer mentality in the F95 community. Maybe is the nature of the site that just has a wanker mentality.

I would like to know if there is an actual interest on making games. being here they will include boobies and buts, but if there is an interest on how to learn how to structure a project and develop a game the proper way I will create a post explaining it and with useful tutorials on it. Please leave a comment about it and a like so I can know if there is some interest in it.

People in general just want to make assets and jump into coding, it's not special to F95. When's the last time you saw a game-making tutorial anywhere that instructed on planning and game design? Personally i've never seen one. It's always download an asset pack and copy the code as you see it. Since most people start this way, it's unlikely to learn how to plan.

Yes, there is an interest of making real, non-VN games here. The thing is though, you can generally follow normal game design practices for about 70-90% of a porn game. That last part is where all the porn has to be, which I've made somewhat of an explanation in my post linked here.

Globally speaking, those topics are already covered here. But ~80% of the games are made by one, or a bunch of, amateur(s), on his/their free time, and by passion. Expecting them to complicate their life with professional guidelines is misunderstanding the development process of a hobby game.

Indie Developers also make games by themselves and yet they have by necessity much more professionalism than "adult developers"
If they were pull this shit on Steam they would be dead and buried.

Game Design Documents are made by the developers, and the developers alone. It would not make sense if uploaders or whoever made them instead, if that is what you are suggesting.

Also, there is no right way to make a GDD.
While templates exist, a GDD could even be a page long.
It highly depends on the complexity of the game, and what you are trying to achieve.

Those that I explicitly describe as being "amateur(s), [working] on his/their free time, and by passion", and who consider their game as being a hobby, are less professionals than professionals... Who would have thought it ?

Better still make your own game and show everyone else how it is done. After all talk is cheap!

I hate this kind of mentality.

"Sir, this soup has a dozen flys and a human finger in it. This is unacceptable!"

"Have you ever cooked professionally before? No? Well then you can't complain!"

GDD... wha... I barely know what the hell I'm writing and coding, and you ask me to write software development documents? :ROFLMAO:
You technically do have a GDD, my bear friend. It's under your developer notes, and it's less expansive than what a professional would do but what you have gives the player a framework of what to expect. I think that's the most one could ask for when on f95, to be honest.

I would love it if you created such a post. I've been working out the finer details of a game I intend to develop for some time now. And trying to do things properly, I've been reading about how to create a GDD. But even so, it's a steep learning curve for those with no prior game development experience.

On the topic though, the culture of professional game development is sorely missing in this genre. Probably because most devs that are actually professional or have experience choose not to develop adult games, as they can't include them in their portfolio or publicly share them. So you're left with fans, amateurs, and first timers, most of whom have no formal or academic training in game development, and worse still, they often have small budgets or none at all, so it becomes even more challenging to invest more time into learning the proper steps of the process. At least, that's how I read.

I think a GDD is a perfect way of seeing if a game has enough depth without spending too much time working on it. Even if you aren't working with a team, you can see how things read on paper before you put resources into making it.

So what does food and being a chef have to do with this thread? I think that you should at least stay on topic, also IMO paying for something and pirating it are two different things.

I don't even know what a GDD is and never even heard the term before now. Personally I work on games for fun because I enjoy doing it and then share my work for those that would like to play it and hopefully also enjoy it. It is nice making stuff others have fun doing.

Maybe that mindsets comes from many years of being a Game master for DnD games and running them for my friends.

" The (GDD) is a blueprint for the design and development of a game and is a way to document the development of your game. The GDD is a tool used by game developers to add and edit notes and ideas for a game and keep all concepts accessible to all team members."

Basically, it's written documentation of your game's ideas, mechanics and intended development.
