That's bullshit. Remember - world is not limited to USA/Australia/Switzerland/whatever rich country you are in, a lot of people live in various shitholes.
You can hire some ukraine/russia/central asia coder for this money easily. Senior developer in russia gets 250k+ rubles, that's like 2.5k $ right now.

It's a shame that the developer is turning CoP more and more exclusively into a Boo-shota-oriented game. 
A few events with oldman and the rest of the characters are almost only needed to attract other players as well, but it's a trap.

Where I'm from sr devs get paid something south of 1k USD and they're very much top of the line. Now imagine how cheap it'd be to hire a college freshman from eastern europe or india to work on a freaking RPG maker game. If he wanted to accelerate the development cycle in any way he would've.
But why would he when he's been getting paid for 2 years for posting 3 cgs every few months. Wallets speak loudest, always. Can't even blame the guy for milking idiots.

It's nuts for me how everything always back to this game...
I mean, if Sangeki of Gear wasn't so outdated already, it still would be a better option
People still look for CoP because no other game tries to bring back the formula of those two games

I recommend NTRMAN's recent game The Lust Voyage. You complain about the game being too slow. Over there, we got people complaining being too fast. You should try it.

I used to write new events for it when I was bored, because of how good the art is concepted
The biggest flaw is it being an old game in a old engine...
So many new games using RPG MV, but just a few using actual animation for it (live2d, spines, etc)
And this author used Illusion Sexy Beach animations from scratch to make good animated scenes... such a shame he gave up
