Well, on discord the creator actually uploaded something.
And this invalidates the "you're not working on the game" critique since, if that were the case, he wouldn't have the ability to publish anything.
As for the rest: in any case he is not forced to provide any justification, especially when it comes to certain people used to throwing judgments on the work of person without even knowing anything (this includes even making insinuations about the person that is behind it): the author clearly says in the description he releases update only when he thinks that the quality of the game is good enough to do so, otherwise he does not do that (and this demonstrates the fact that you don't even read the descriptions before posting your toxic comments here or elsewhere).
It seems to me the behavior of a creator who really wants to deliver full and 100% complete games to their audience without a development rush just to get a little more notoriety.
Also in the description the author explains why he works so slow:
"I'm aware of this, but you know, the amount, the quality and the complication of my CGs in one patch could be equally compared to a single mini visual novel. I'm willingly to sacrifice my time over my work's quality.
And most importantly, I'm working alone".
I want to specify: I write these things not because I'm a fanboy, but because I'm doing nothing more than defending the developer from your unfair criticism.
I understand being impatient, especially after 2 years without a proper release, but this is not enough to say "the author has abandoned the project". I have been following amateur video game development teams for a long time and, having quite a bit of experience in this area, I fully understand that things can change dramatically as time goes by: some people leave, others have commitments and don't or can no longer continue, etc.
Believe me: it is normal. I saw plenty of good fanmade games with great potential being abandoned. When you are developing a game there may be severe implications with the passing of time (even mainly due to some RL issues), this happens even when you are working with a team of 30-40 people, so I can imagine how the situation can really get bad , especially when you are just working alone.
And while I perfectly understand a lack of experience and knowledge in how amateur and fanmade projects work, this does not justify toxic behavior anyway.
