I've seen a fair few situations like this, enough to lead me to the conclusion that the Japanese word that gets translated as "rape" has some subtly different meaning or something, such that it is applicable to sexual encounters English-speakers would describe with "rape" but also some we wouldn't. The best is doujins with dialogue like "yes, keep raping me, just like that!" I'm like, okay, either the translator did an unbelievably terrible job, or there's something going on here that just can't be made to line up quite right in translation.

I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking 犯す which literally means to violate [someone/something]. Which can be translated as "rape". *Double checks dictionary*.
Yeah:

犯す (おかす) (v5s,vt) (1) to commit (e.g. crime); to perpetrate; to make (e.g. mistake); (v5s,vt) (2) to break (e.g. rule); to violate; to transgress; to contravene; (v5s,vt) (3) to rape; to violate; to ravish; to deflower; (P);

With that being said, 犯す isn't explicitly sexual.

罪を犯す (つみをおかす) (exp,v5s) to commit a crime; to commit a sin;
過ちを犯す (あやまちをおかす) (exp,v5s) to make an error;
禁を犯す (きんをおかす) (exp,v5s) to break the prohibition (law); to violate the ban;
