I'm sorry, but I disagree. If Bobbyboy's development of the East Block absolutely hinges on Patreon money, then I have some bad news for everyone.

It's simply not viable to expect to make a living from making AVNs, not at this point in time.

Also, continuously expanding the scope of the project with each update - then complaining about not being able to sustain such a scope without ever-growing financial support is just being financially irresponsible.

You have to play with the cards you are dealt with, not the ones left in the deck.
I would recommend putting steam as well, as many have already done. can you survive on Patreon alone? there are game developers who can. but in order to achieve this, quite a lot of effort has to be invested.

I understand what you're saying. What I'm attempting with that post I made earlier is to ask for potential leakers to at least wait a few days so that I can make a few bucks. No one owes me anything and you're right, I knew what I was signing up for. I'm just hoping people might think twice and choose to be a hero to me, at least for a few days.
out of respect for you Bobby I choose not to download it . I know same can't be said for everyone. But im waiting until the thread gets updated properly as long as it's been 3-5 days . I just dont want to to support right now for personal reason for now. But I do consider it all the time cause I kind of do feel bad for playing this amazing game for free. Probably will start supporting some dev's once in awhile after the Holiday season cause I do feel bad for never doing it other than through steam.

Nothing wrong with wanting a return on investment of time and probably money (for buying assets and such).
I'd love to see a receipt for some scenes people have done in the past, if only out of curiosity. I think would be down to luck and good fortune to make a return when one chooses to buy every DAZ asset that goes into games like these. It's a discussion nobody wants to have.

I talked to someone that said they were making their own game I forget the number but they mentioned they spent around $30-50k on assets and licenses for the assets.

Yeap, some build up quite the library of assets and over time, it costs quite a bit. I know some devs will spend a ton of money when Daz store does a flash sale to grab stuff they might use in the future. It just depends.

Indeed, people need to learn to have a little patience. It won't kill you if you have to wait a few extra days to play the game. If it does bother you that much, you have others issues going on that you may want to look into. ;)

Using Daz assets is a slippery slope, once you start it's easy to keep investing buckets of money into the program.

I'm planning on doing that in early release in the spring once I have all the animations redone properly.
Yes, in version 0,6 the animated scenes are much better,(I wish the older sex scenes were like this),invest in them and if you can make them even better.Your game is perfect.

Welp, guess a 6-month break for the Steam release is inevitable then. I can't imagine how re-doing all the older scenes by adding animations to them isn't going to significantly slow down the pace of development for the main story at that point.

Be careful what you wish for, fellas.

Hey guys,

To whoever feels inclined to leak the game, please reconsider. I work on this game for five hours at least per day for two to three months for each update. I rely on the income from the early releases to make doing this worth it. If it gets leaked the second day, I lose a ton of money. If I don't make a certain amount each release cycle I can't justify the time and resources it takes to make this game. So please don't leak any links. I'll give the links to the OP when it is ready and it will be the latest version with all bug fixes and revisions, so it's best to wait for that version anyway. I understand the appeal of making others happy, I get it. But doing so really affects my ability to continue making this game.

Thanks,
Bobby
So that means you are relaying in people desperate to see new content that usually doesn't feel complete (not talking specifique for your game) that will not entirely support all time, just in the month of the release.

Making the game BUYABBLE one time on Itch is good a thing too (which I see it is not in sync with last version), I usually buy all them cause it worth the dollar I spend, that much people here buying in dollar/euro is super expensive.

Making a paywall thing and expect people to support, releases have to be at least passionate and worth it by the time spent on the release. (If 6 months people expect a medium to long update, for a example.) Having test builds for your patrons on Discord or something to get feedback and fixes bugs, then releasing for everyone all gucci and fixed.

You have to show what is the project is about, love and dedication about. People who enjoy the project or how you develop they will support (if they have the financial possibility) if the new release get leaked.

When I was employed I had supported some creators that release stuff in for free on day 1, so not actually paying for the game but supporting the creator and their passion.

As so many good projects they start and developer abandon the project (even if they receiving a lot of money), there is a bunch of milkers too (like Summertime Saga) and yes you can probably abandon the project for needing money and can't invest time in the game (because we all need money to survive) and go back when, if possible.

PS: I wrote this based on your comment, I did not look into your stuff to know more about, so it is a advice for all creators.

well from what it sounded like from post in the past. Bobby plans to do it slowly over time not all at once so won't be some shitty rework most devs do so I can respect that. But yeah probably will slow down development a little bit here and there.

I agree. Trying to sustain one's revenue by hoping that enough people are desperate enough to subscribe to higher tiers (for one month only) is not smart financial reasoning, at all. Those should be welcome bonuses, not expected profit that you base your whole project's viability around. Your stuff getting leaked on a pirate forum is inevitable, this is something to account for - not lament.

Besides, F95 is the best free marketing option, and when you look at how much money modern AAA companies spend trying to market their shitty products, you really start to appreciate the "free" alternatives, whatever their downsides may be.

He said a Steam release is planned for Spring of 2025, once he has already re-done most of the animations. In case you didn't know, Spring of 2025 is "only" 4 months away, and animations take time & effort. Expect future updates for the time being to be lighter on content or less frequent until that is settled. Is it going to be noticeable? I'd wager yes. How much? I don't know.

doesn't mean the start of spring. Could be the end of spring for all I know so we could easily see 1 update before then. But the steam release I suspect will take more time than the animations. As it seems that delays some games months and rarely ever goes to plan.

Having helped one dev through the process and kinda helping another, I can say that yeah, things can go wrong. There's a very detailed application that needs to be filled out and submitted to Steam. They might come back and question certain things (or worst case, flat out reject and ban your game). Then there is building your store. You have to create a series of capsules of various dimensions for branding and such. You have to have a video and preview images. The preview video must be of certain length. Then populate all your information on the store page. Get your repos built (repos are where the game files live). Supposedly a Steam staff member will go through the game (how thorough, I'm not sure). They review your page and tell you to correct shit. I'm probably missing out on some other details.

Needless to say, it's a very involved process. Stressful, too.
