many devs don't like platforms like SS because in the country where they live whitdraw the money is complicated
They make the choice. When they get caught for having content that is not allowed, it is still their own fault. Not Patreon's. They decided to take the "easier way" rather than a way which may be more difficult but at least is the correct way. I get why they do it, that doesn't mean they should do it.
if you also have an open patreon, it seems to me that you are shooting yourself in the foot...
Agreed.
And I understand that people complain about Patreon even though, as you say, it is their company and they can do whatever they want, that does not mean that for some it is unfair, like the dev who was imprisoned for making a porn game, they are the laws of that country but that does not mean that it does not seem moronic to us. But those are opinions after all.
Life is not fair. People need to remember that. It will never be fair. It's impossible for life to be fair.
Developers don't want to be told what they put in their game. When they get called on what they put in their game by the platform they put their game on, they bitch about the company not being fair. They specifically said "fuck Patreon's want to do business the way they want to do business - my right to do business within their business is more important than their right." Developers want their rights and themselves to be respected by Patreon at the same time they had been disrespecting Patreon for a period of time (some for years). This isn't about being fair. This is about businesses who want to do their business their way (and should be done within the legal framework allowed). If one breaches that ability - particularly with knowledged and forethought - they have nothing to whine about when their business is removed from Patreon.
And, as for going off on a tangent with Westy-- It's the law. If you don't like the law in the land you live in, get it changed. Until then, anything you do which is against the law - you have chosen to do so and you have to face the consequences of that law. Again, choice and consequences.
Also, Westy hasn't been imprisoned, yet. I don't believe he has been sentenced as part of his plea bargain. I don't know, I don't keep up with it. However, he was quite aware of the laws of his country, and if someone says "no, he wasn't" - again, before you start doing something which is obviously questionable, legally - it is upon you to make sure you are not possibly breaking laws.
Just because a law is moronic, in your opinion, doesn't mean you can break it without consequences. The jails, prisons, penitentiaries, and graveyards are filled with people who thought the law they broke was moronic. If it truly is, fight to get it repealed. Until then... don't break it, or accept the consequences like a mature adult if you do break it. You can keep fighting to get it changed, in some way, while paying the price of your breach of the structure of society (as long as you are still alive).
