The warning will happen after the first possession event where Jack will basically fuck one girl of your choosing before he loses control. After the event if you go and talk to the merchant, he will warn you and tell you about a item he will have soon to stop Jack

With possession in the game, its a case of Jack and Joseph are switching spots. Depends on the path you have a character on, Mary, Olivia, Darcie, and Janice are ones I can tell for certain he is more dominant with. The others are more or less a case of either equally dominate or in the cause of Velvet's corrupt completely one-sided
