not sure this is legit question but here we go.
because opinions don't need to be explained?
and one acutally did:

my OSD is make me itch every cell from my body.. why men? why?!
this is men bantering .. very lightly and polite ... if it was legit i sure hope you grow some skin and/or grow your social skills

because all of them are huge security risk.
the admin account is used only for doing admin business {you logout your normal account, login with admin, doing exact only the thing you need to do, then logout admin and login your normal account}, because if your account will be compromised and that is the admin account you will be royally fucked. the download folder it's the same by a less degree, it's a special folder with special permission

Two reasons..first security reasons, let the default name for the user (Admin, Administrator, User) can be use as even a backdoor to your data, the second one is mostly for order.. i mean the "Downloads" folders is royal mess when compressed files are extrated there, not gonna even talk about the indexing from the complete "user" folder. There is a secondary reason, for privacy reasons, i mean, Downloads folder is like your frontyard together with the Desktop folders, if you need to show your PC to someone, you normally dont wanna show them your virtual porn collection. Now if you dont give a fuck, good for you.

The fact that it worries you is what's worrying. Is he hurting someone by doing that? Why don't you just let people do things the way that works for them?
if you see someone doing something really dangerous, expecially if the impression is they don't know exactly the risk involved give a warning is the most natural thing to do, our brain are letterally evolutioned hardwired to share information with people showing ingnorance [there are study with other great ape showing the same exact behaviour]. and it's a good thing. adding an explanation is better, obviously.

Except it's not really dangerous. He playing a game in downloads folder, not russian roulette. In all likelihood what he's doing won't even cause harm to himself.

security risk are risk. so they are dangerous. playing from the download folder isn't a huge risk, but still is a risk, because change done inside the folder are usually not checked for malevolent behaviour. using the admin account for the normal use is a big fucking security risk. the lack of possible body harm don't mean no harm can be done.

People are way too hung up on that. You aren't a fucking target for hackers. Neither is he. Average people like us aren't worth the time or the risk. We don't have enough money to bother with. Or a good enough credit score to make stealing our identity worth it. If we're getting hacked it's not through our personal machines, it's through some database somewhere where they can get enough average persons data all at once to make it worth their time. And the fact that such a remote risk is worrying to you people is actually what's worrying. It's just not significant enough to merit such a reaction.

Right... There are no botnets used for DDoS attacks, there is no crypto-mining malware... Who would ever need small people and their small electronic devices? And infected games and malware links are never spread on this very website, because it "aren't worth the time or the risk"

a few years ago my boss (i'm a it consultant) organized a meeting about cyber secuirity with a withe hat working for a security firm.
he has worked in and with big company and corporation, so it's not a no-name. his society setup sometime a pc-target conneted to internet for running test about external haking, usually the first attacks come after 30 minute the machine is conneted. and there isn't a "to small fish" most of them are autobot without any human direction, and even if 1 over 100 small fish pay a ransonware is a gain for them. and another thing is once a system is vulnerable put in danger any system it is connetted, and going upstream in that way you will find a big fish [going from supplier to supplier until you reach a big corpo]

I recall that toward the end of XP's life it was determined that the average of how long unpatched XP could be connected to the internet before being pwned was less than the time it took to DL the relevant hardening updates. Kinda doubt it's gotten any better since.

i think he counted only serious attack able to compromise a system with a security system up to date in place.
and was like the 2020/2021 thing got only worse from then.

People dont have any idea about the number of ramsomwares cases a TechSupport guy have to deal in a week.. not clients for hugh enterprices or celebrities, just everyday persons who just get infected by, welp in a LOT of ways.. and i just talking about ramsomwares, because if you add the normal malware.. uff there is a lot, a lot more. Sometimes people dont understand some really logical and simple things, but whatever..
