So I looked in scripts.rpa and default danger_content is set to True. That means that the danger content still happens, right? Or should I change something else? There is also the global danger thing.
PS: Why asking? Well, I want to make really sure that I am doing the right thing and not immedially mess it all up. If you know what I mean.
Basically, you won't need to do any workarounds for this release, but will likely need to do them for future ones. (I was basically done when I realised that it was still active, decided to post anyway, because the number of people missing the glaringly obvious messaging in the patch notes was painful)
I'm confused about this as well. If it's just rape content, it's not the end of the world. The game offers a lot of other content.
I haven't trawled through all the code to see what it affects, but yes, it's basically anything that could be considered rape.
Based on these quotes... Since this is a patreon release, and not a public release, that should mean the danger content is still present and active, correct?
So... doesn't that mean there is no point in doing the whole z.rpy script thing?
Actually - to the best of my knowledge, it's the other way around. Patreon is the one taking issue with non-con content, so you shouldn't release the danger version there. Same as how a game might have a different version available via subscribestar.
And it's not like anyone can really blame people or Patreon. 99.99% of the civilized world considers rape to be irredeemably evil (and it absolutely is IRL). If Patreon allows such content to be funded, a lot of people will point their fingers and Patreon will lose money for it.
The only thing I can't blame Patreon for is that they're probably not banning this off their own backs. Pretty much all of this is coming off of pressure from the major payment processors (Visa/Mastercard), who in turn are being pressured by the same US groups who are trying to make porn and sex work incrementally illegal (think - the same people who have gotten PornHub blocked in certain states for their age verification requirements; The same people who pushed FOSTA-SESTA in the name of saving kids and sex trafficking victims but doing nothing to
help them, only criminalize them, and that outcome was not an accident).
That said, 99.99% of the world also considers murder irredeemably evil too. We haven't banned action movies and videogames (though some have tried). I could write multiple essays about the topic, but fundamentally, it's just about people flipping out about a topic they find icky, and banning it is bad.
