No one mentioned this bug? Many quests require characters to be wearing specific outfits, but characters can lose these outfits due to in-game events. While school uniforms can be bought elsewhere, cheerleader outfits are unavailable, causing quests to get stuck and unable to continue. This game design needs to be changed. It should be modified so that triggering an event automatically equips the character with the required outfit.

Tangentially, being able to sell clothes, even for a pittance, would be nice. Your inventory can get very crowded without a way to get rid of stuff.
You've either encountered a bug or you must be playing a completely different game because this game already does all that.
If Sammy is attending class or playing with the soccer boys, she will automatically switch to whatever you have set for school uniform and sports clothes, even if it's just underwear. If too many parts of those outfits are missing, Sammy will wear what she has on. If Sammy works at the bar, she will automatically change to her bar maid outfit if you choose that route to approach Simon Banks. etc etc etc
Activities which require a specific outfit will provide you the outfit 9 times out of 10. This is true for the bar maid, Robin sex object, the photography quest, and Haven. The only quests where you have to acquire a specific outfit yourself use the maid outfit, which is very easy to get and replace.
There are enough clothing options to make your own cheerleader outfit.
Boob window top + pleated mini skirt or sleeveless turtleneck + dance mini skirt will do the trick.

Now that you mention it, I remembered that I also lost my maid outfit while sleeping on the street, and I couldn't buy it again at the bar (the purchase menu was empty), which prevented me from continuing my work there.
The cheerleading part is the same; it automatically cancels if there's no specific outfit event, and there's no way to wear a similar outfit as a substitute.
We might indeed be playing different games.
To test your claim, I had Sammy run around wearing the maid outfit until it got stolen. Then went back to the hotel at the truck stop. The maid outfit was available for sale again. I ran my test on v3.4.10. I am assuming you're using v3.4.18. What this means is you found a bug in v3.4.18 where the item flags are not triggering. Simply report the bug and move on. No need to add commentary that comes off as whiny.
This is not an inherent flaw of the game's design. Everything I said in my previous comment is true. The game is very lenient when it comes to outfits and automatically changes outfits as needed. You don't even need to wear the maid outfit for cleaning jobs, you only need it in your inventory. RPGM games tend to be far worse about this, requiring you to do everything manually.
You can also always use the cheat options to add all clothes to your inventory if wearing the maid outfit is so important to you.
I've also no recollection about a cheerleading event. The only things I can think of that could come close are the dance girls and the photography quest. Either you're confused or it's something which got added after build v3.4.10.
I do wish there was some way to talk to rachel independently of the boys when she is hanging out with them later at night, because it feels like I've mildly locked myself out of possible content

The soccer club scene, on the other hand, is activated by talking/playing soccer with the boys from the soccer club. I started this one, but then stopped playing.
So I'm speaking about these scenes more from hearsay than from having played them directly.
I understand that playing one excludes the other, right?
Isn't it really possible to play both? Isn't there a correct order to play them both?

Shops were resetting to their default stock for a while when you loaded from an old save. Possible they were hitting this error and not being able to rebuy.
Rachel has 3 story lines that take her away from the gym. Bitching, vball and soccer boys. Once all are unlocked she has a 3 in 10 chance to be at one of those places with a 1 in 10 chance of staying at the gym. If you dont have them all unlocked then she will stay at the gym allowing you to unlock them.
If you get friendly enough with the soccer boys, then the bullies will be removed.

I'm confused, what's the party and why can't unlocked it? I thought It was the dance club's quest but apparently not (I'm using an old save btw from 3.3 something).
Party is part of the dance quest, yes. It is possible that using an old save has brought you past the trigger point. It is also possible that using cheats to roll back the quest line a few steps could solve it. Stage 12 or so is a good starting point for trying.
If you are using the recently leaked v0.3.4.18, please note the following:
– That build is 6 weeks old by now
– The party in that build is far from complete, and missing several vital pieces
– A public build is expected in mid-December, and will contain the full party
How do you lose a fight? Or is it just flavor text and there's no way to be overpowered? No matter how low I cheat her stats or how vulnerable she is, she wins every time she gets attacked which doesn't make any sense
