As we all know AI will utterly replace women in the sexual market place in the next 20 years leading to the complete extinction of mankind.

But how?

Robots are heavy and can be damaged. You might have to work extra shifts at the burger shack to buy your girlfriend a new cooch module. She might have a spasm while gently caressing your face and break your jaw. Terrible. But you can hold her soft pleather body in your arms even with your eyes closed.

VR isn't very tactile. It can't keep you company. And it's clearly a cheap toy for peasants. But if someone steals your headset, you can probably just buy a new one and get right back to your girlfriend without even having to hose her off first. In the end a VR girlfriend will always look her best and you never have to worry about her getting hurt.

Vr sucks, robot ladys are impractical still, not to mention impossible to deliver and buy or hide. Fleshlight till I get back onto serious relationship hunting. If one is creative enough on how to mount Fleshlight creatively, no need either options you mentioned.

but regarding the actual question: it's a false dichotomy. we will have both virtual and android sex. they'll even merge and the android will become your haptic interface with the virtual. fucking the android with your vr-helmet on, the android replicating every move the virtual alien slave girl you see is making.

I don't see either replacing women (or men) in the next 20 years.
I do think the movie Her was right, if we get an operating system that is that advanced we are fucked. A lot of pet owners feel their pet understands them better than their partner. Now imagine an operating system that has access to your whole life (including porn habits, search history and social media). It can tailor the personality to be your perfect partner (this is different from what most people think would be a perfect partner or what media often portrays as a perfect partner. Nobody wants to date prince charming or a bland Disney princess). So at least on an emotional level we'd have a better choice than having an IRL partner. Maybe we'd use casual sex for the physical closeness? I doubt we'd be hugging a hard drive any time soon for comfort.
VR will be a niche for a while. Sure it is neat and costs will eventually come down. But unless they solve the bulky headset most people will not use it as regularly as a normal screen when trying to unwind after a long days work. It just takes more effort than watching tv and sometimes you just want the lazy option.
As for robotics I don't really see them going from where things stand now to android in the next 20 years. I could be wrong but innovation has been very incremental for ages. I do think we can get to a level of technology where androids will be indistinguishable from humans as I do not subscribe to humanities superiority complex at the top of the evolution ladder. Anything in nature, including us, can be replicated with sufficiently advanced technology. I just don't think technology will advance to that level in just 20 years. It is more likely that robotics will get bigger roles in many industries first before going into the dating market.
As for needing men and women for children... We are working on artificial wombs (for premature babies) so maybe not eventually?

eventually we'll all be made of synthetic tissue or live inside a virtual world as programs, or even both at a time as distributed minds that can split and send shards of itself in physical AND virtual entities around galaxy, and later join back with them. or going even further we might find being individual is so year 2867 and merge into one giant consciousness with everyone.

it all depends on the time scale you look at. and probably all different ways to exist will go on side by side.

What you're going to see is a mesh of A.I, virtual reality and reality.

I can picture every person having a human sized sexbot in their bedrooms aesthetically designed around specific parameters that each individual finds appealing, you could purely use the A.I functionality or you'll be able to "log on" to find people that you consider sexy on The Farm™ who will be given temporary command of your sexbot (choke function optional) to have sex with you using motion capture technology, so even a robot could have a realistic "Sorry, I cummies too fast" or "two pump chump" moments.

Maybe you could add some GoogleSex™ Cybernetic enhancements that fuse humans and machines together to assist your pathetic shell of a body in lovemaking, it will drive you on way past the point of cummies and won't stop until the other person's satisfied leaving your balls completely empty and aching for hours after the fact.
