The games feel the same boring AF

Yeah, it doesn't help that SO many of them rely on the same ugly models and same barely-a-game gameplay. I swear, someone could make a killing by developing a 3D modeling & posing system that doesn't just create generic, lifeless, awkward dolls with the same dang faces!

I'm not sure that things are any worse than they have been in the past though - there's just a lot more being released these days so it feels overwhelming. Just make sure to support the good ones when they come along!

Recently i have noticed that the games lost its quality, they are the same with a few minor exeptions of course.
Has anyone noticed the same or its just a noram phase of stagntion

I'm not sure what the connection is with the image, but that scene always gets a solid chuckle from me.

I think it's important to remember that 90% of games are being made by complete amateurs. Everything from writing, to art, to assembling the game, is usually done by one person who has never done anything like that before. It takes a serious amount of ambition to even attempt such a thing, and most go through serious growing pains. I think this is common in any form of art, whether it's painting, or film making, etc. We just happen to be at ground zero where we can see all of the amateur attempts that never get off the ground. If this was a forum dedicated to painting, we'd see a lot of amateur painters that weren't able to distinguish themselves from the crowd.

I don't think it's worse today, I think it was always there, it's just that the prospect of the games being the same for longer and you dipping your toes into more of the same has given you the impression that games are more boring/standarized today than they were before. I mean this site was built on Renpy HS/3DCG copy pasta incest harem games.

I do feel you though, sometimes you have to look outside of your comfort zone and play a super hero, school or something else game. And there's a reason for so many devs doing the same thing, they're not taking risks because they need to make some money, that's why a lot of devs second games pop actually way more than their first games. The first game is like a test of ability that gets funded so that they can make the game they actually wanted to make.

The setup of you moving to your mom/grandma's place and fucking everyone there is old, but I would miss it if it was gone completely, you just need to find more games that are not like this and space them in between releases that do feature this setup.

Being original isn't easy, but making a vn in Ren'Py is. You put em together and what to you get, over saturation. Now not every game made in Ren'Py sucks, but most of them do. Not every vn is boring as fuck, but most of them are. What I do is I avoid these games unless either there is a lot of praise coming from reviewers, or something about it sticks out (like the art or the tags) then I'll give it a shot.

I doubt there's been any change. there's a tiny number of good games, and after you've seen them you've exhausted them. new good games are so rare it takes a lot of time before the next one. you don't want to wait so you dig deep into the nameless crap pile and of course the only thing you'll find is crap. doesn't matter how hard you search, it won't have any effect on when the next good one comes out. it's not a function of your effort, but of those extremely rare devs who have any idea what's good.

Imagine for an hour each day you could eat as much candy in a candy store as you want.
Great, right? Well yeah, at least for the first few days or even weeks.
But then? It's nothing special anymore, everything seems a little bit dull even though it's the same candy, some are great, some are real bad, some are good enough.
The candy didn't change, it's you who changed.

What I want to say is, take a break from porn games, look into other stuff. Come back if you are refreshed or feel like you need more. ;)

There are still games with quality, but also take note that you'll evolve your taste in time as well.

As the ratio of good/not good games ... I think it didn't change over time, 10 years ago we were filled with crappy flash games: now the mass of juniors are relying on Ren'Py.

As if that would be surprising. So many devs jumped on a certain hypetrain and you'll get bored if you play almost the same stuff all the time. Son lives with mom and 1-2 sister(s), dad is dead or whatever and of course the son is still in school and fucks his stupid ass around the whole town.

A list of original and quality games should be created out of the piles of games with the same 3d models and style, and poor writing

I'd say I agree, but I think it would be unfair to all the other developers out there who are making or have made good games that I've just yet to try.

For me personally, in the past 2 years I've already ran through a large chunk of the most popular games on the site, some I haven't tried, some I just won't(but probably will eventually).

For the most part, there were way more games that I liked than I had otherwise thought. I've started to pick apart what I like and don't like in an adult or H-game, so if I'm not feeling super experimental, I probably won't try it as I've already figured out, for lack of a better word, my palate.

I will say that as of late, lets say within the past 6 months, there haven't been very many NEW good games that I've stumbled upon or see blowing up.

The majority of the games I pay attention to had their initial release 1+ year ago, or have been in development for longer(or completed). I'm a bit saddened that there hasn't been anything new that has caught my eye, maybe its just gone under my radar?

It is unfortunate, I won't lie. I try to browse and look for hidden gems, but more often then not I keep scrolling past the same games I tried and didn't like, or games I feel confident won't be good or interesting to me. I'm sort of just stuck waiting for the next big update on a game that I support or keep tabs on.

Like the only things I'm really looking forward to over this next 6 months to a year are the next releases to Eternum, Goldenboy updating NTR Legend, and the next release of Winter Memories by Otome. Other than that, I'm a bit lost.

I wish the featured page showed recently released games that are getting a lot of traffic, or a lot of interaction for how recent the release is in proportion to it's review count.

For example: A game released or added to F95 within the past month, week, little to no reviews, but lots of comments and post engagement. It'd be easy to pick up on games early that could be glossed over or don't get enough publicity to stay crowdfunded.

Thats the main downside of using DAZ assets for 90% of the games; They all start to look the same. It doesn't help that outside of modern stuff DAZ offers very little. Very limits what somebody can make without requiring much more time and expertise (3D modelling, texturing, etc.).

Just look at how many DAZ games aren't set in a modern setting. You can properly count them on 1 hand.

Hi,

Like many of you I don't think that games are worst now. But as making games have became more easy than ever (most game engines are cheap or free for amateurs/small teams ; "knowledge" about game design, coding, etc is on YT ; computers which handle 3d creation are cheaper ; etc), there is more games out there. Back in the days it was 90% of crap out of 10's, now it's 90% out of 100's. It's harder to scan everything and find gold, but gold still exist.

About the standardisation : IMO, most games arn't similars because of a market force or scam potential but because many peoples try to create a better (or their own) version of something they love. That and because unmastered "easy" tools and/or knowledge bring similars results.

It's just like discovering movies growing up. You don't know all the old tropes, so everything seems new and original. You haven't seen all the classics, so people can still recommend things you haven't seen... Once you're all caught up, you realize that not many truly great movies get made each year.
