Since the story is expanded you should either add checkpoints torugh the chapters or if the player wants to begin another chapter, the player can choose the big choices, if you want make so that the player either chooses a general choice (like canonical, corrupted etc) or a specific set thus spending redo points.

20 Chapters (plus epilogue), still following the original story, but just with a bunch more content and bad ends. If anyone wants to know how the story ends, you can play the original, this remake is just for fun to try a new artstyle and make more "what if" sex scenes

As someone who played through the first ver. multiple times and has kept up to date with the "Recollared" ver., Recollared is such an incredible step up from the first, with several new story branches, much improved and more cohesive visuals, and overall writing improvements. It'll be a bit of a wait but I'd say staying tuned to the end of this version is the way to go.
