Development Update
Happy New Year Everyone!
Only two weeks in and 2021 has been off to a rocky start. It’s looking like lockdown might last until the spring (in the UK at least) making it a whole year of barely seeing family or friends. Still, though, 2021 is just getting started and I’m hopeful things will start to get better soon.
After a little bit of a slow start, production on version 0.10 is now well underway. I had only planned to spend a few days on the Christmas Special but ended up spending about two weeks on it (it was worth it though in my opinion, play it if you haven’t). I also took a week off for myself over Christmas, although the majority of that time I was working on a little pet project. Working while taking a break from working probably wasn’t a great idea, but I’ve come to find game making more enjoyable than game playing these days. Plus there’s not much else to do at the moment with the whole country locked down.
I also took a little time to keep myself up to date with new developments in the software I use for the images, and I’ve been learning a new method for making custom animations with some truly great potential. Currently, there are two types of animation used in the game. There are premade generic animations that come with the software, these include dance and sex animations and things like the girls doing aerobics. I can directly record these animations as a video and they look very smooth with a high frame rate. However, they lack any form of customisation meaning in practice they have a limited number of uses. The other method for making animations is stop motion. Where I take a number of still images (anything from 2 to 24) then use the games engine to code them into an animation by playing one image after another. This is how all the spanking, blowjob/handjob and some of the sex animations are made. Being able to set up each frame individually allows for much greater customisation including facial movements, butt jiggle etc that isn’t possible with the generic animations. The downside is that stop motion animations are extremely laborious to create, sometimes taking days. Depending on the number of frames these animations can also end up looking jerky and low quality compared to the premade, generic ones.
The new method for making animations that I’ve been learning combines the best of both worlds. I can set up still scenes the same way I would prepare a stop motion animation then the software automatically moves the character's positions between set points. Meaning I can create smooth video animations out of my old stop motion ones. As well as being able to create better animations this also automates some of the more laborious elements of the process. This massively reduces the length of time taken to make a spanking animation down from anything up to 12 hours now, potentially to one or two hours. This method also allows me to do a number of things which I simply couldn’t before during video animations such as moving cameras, changing facial expressions and much more. Meaning I can create vastly better sex animations than I’ve been able to thus far. I’ve made a few practice videos which were shared on the Discord which show promise but need a little work.
Given the potential time and labour savings involved, I feel like it’s a priority for me to get to grips with this new animation method. So my plan for version 0.10 is to start off making lots of sex and spanking animations to really hone my new skills, work out what’s possible and create a bunch of custom animation templates to make my life considerably easier going forward. In fact, it could be that version 0.10 ends up consisting of almost all sex and spanking scenes in some form or other. Fortunately, I suspect that won’t be a huge problem. Stars of the update will include, among others; Debbie, Rachel, Amy, Lucy, Charlotte, the Twins and the nurse.
My last estimate for the release date was late Feb/early March. In all honesty, I’m probably a couple of weeks behind where I was hoping to be at this stage (for the reasons explained above), so mid-March seems more likely. I’ll keep people up to date and I’ll set a release date closer to the time. I'm also planning to hold a new poll in the near future and I'll post details soon.
