Development Update 39

The release date is just around the corner now. I expect to meet my deadline, however, some of the content isn’t quite ready and will need to be pushed back.
The primary storyline featuring Rachel and Sally is basically done and I have a really great update ready for release. We are testing it and putting the finishing touches on it now. The other planned part of the release (the staff training sessions) is coming together really well, however, it’s not going to be ready next weekend. I would rather not release a half-finished story arc. So my options are to either delay the release entirely or to split the release into two parts. Normally, I would say to delay, however, Rachel's content is substantial. It's a decent-sized update on its own (with somewhere around 40,000 words, 900 renders and 300 or so video files). Therefore, I have decided to release Rachel and Sally’s content next weekend, on schedule. All the other planned content will come in a separate, similarly sized update in a couple of months. So rather than one huge update, it’s going to be two decent-sized ones in fairly quick succession.
It is obviously disappointing to have to delay some of the content. However, we still have a great update for everyone. I am confident that people will enjoy the conclusion to Rachel’s storyline and will be impressed with the quality of the new sex animations. I invested a lot of time in improving our animation quality in this update cycle. Even over the course of the update itself, you can see the animations getting better and better as we continue to make advances with the software. With the help of my new animator, Gegecucu, we’ve managed to overcome a lot of technical hurdles and create some scenes I could only dream of making back when I first started out making this game. The climactic finale scene with Rachel and Sally will not disappoint.
The simple brief that I set myself going into the update was to get Rachel’s story to the point where she and the headmaster were having sex. On the face of it, this task seemed fairly simple, Rachel was already under the headmaster’s control and the path had already been set out with the dildo practice option in the headmaster’s office. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realised I was going in the wrong direction. Rachel's storyline, and indeed all the main girls' storylines, needed to be advanced through the punishment/levelling system. After all, the headmaster doesn't want to secretly have sex with all the students, he wants to do it openly with the approval of his fellow teachers.
Switching to the punishment system meant a huge amount of extra work and is the reason why Rachel’s content ended up monopolising my time. As well as making several new punishment actions, I had to redo all of Rachel’s animations to bring them up to recent standards and to add the red butt effect. I also had to include a lot of character development for Sally, in order to get to the stage where she would accept the headmaster having sex with a student during a punishment. In this endeavour, we will see Sally learning some new sexualised disciplinary techniques, as well as being subjected to some of them herself. Not only is it some really great content it also opens the door story-wise to a lot more sex going forward. So, I hope you will agree with me that this part of the story was worth focusing on and getting just right.
The other storyline (with the after-school training) was designed to bring Miss Potts to a similar level, with the headmaster starting to be more open about his sexual interactions with the girls, as well as convincing Miss Potts to join in. I really would have loved to release both storylines together, however, I was being over-ambitious (as usual). A huge chunk of this storyline is done though so it shouldn’t be too much extra time to finish it off. In theory, I could even have it done by the time of the public release of version 0.13. However, given that it will be a substantial amount of content I will need to give it its own beta release, just as soon as it’s finished.
Apart from the new content, there are going to be quite a lot of changes to the game in this update with a lot of general UI and gameplay improvements, including a complete rebalancing of the game’s economy, an option to skip chapter one and changes to the way statistics points are awarded. Therefore, I am still planning to have a slightly longer beta period this time around, despite the delayed content.
I don’t have too much more to say at this point, the update will be out next weekend and I will let the new content and animations speak for themselves.
