I think that Beth's stealing should have been an accident. She went there and always tried on clothes, but that day she was just trying on clothes like always and lost track of time and needed to get home, she was rushing out of the changing room, grabbed a jacket of hers or something and stuffed it in her backpack, but accidentally grabbed some of the clothes she had been trying on as well that had gotten bundled up with the jacket as she was tossing clothes around. The clerk (since we suspect had cameras in the change room) noticed this and made her open her bag and "caught Beth red handed," and the gangsters could have the same lines, make the same accusations, demand the same stuff. The only thing that changes is that Beth didn't steal on purpose and so it really isn't her fault. She was just having fun dreaming about what it would be like to have nice things but then got into trouble for an accident, and now the Mc is caught up in it too. Same outcome in the long run, but it doesn't damage Beth's character as it isn't her fault at all, as opposed to now where it actually is her fault, but everyone just forgives her for it.

That would have been better than what actually happens.

Anyway, I don't like this whole mafia thing at all, and not just because they blackmail the MC, I personally find it unnecessary.

Yeah, and mafia plots are too common in AVNs as it is. Probably one of the most common tropes in AVNs at this point. I get it to some extent. It's a relatively easy way to add stakes and drama. But it's hard to find games that do it well.

In my opinion, the only thing it's accomplished is ruining what was the best LI.

In fact, the only thing that even remotely appealed to me was getting revenge on the idiots who blackmailed the MC, and now I can't even do that. For me, that path is just a waste of time, so I'm not going to waste a single second reading anything that happens along it.

I also had a thought that, since the dev wants to do the whole mafia thing and get the Mc involved, that one of the jobs the Mc gets early on should be going with Tony (I think that's his name) to handle the two thugs. Give the player the chance to get some revenge even if the Mc complains about it. Would be a way to at least salvage it some, let the player see and even be a part of them getting their just reward, so to speak. And if you go the "contact the cops" route then it would give the Mc more evidence, even give the player the choice if the Mc takes part in their punishment or just watches. Let the player lean into the mob plot if they want to and you are going to have it.

Just a few more of my thoughts.

At least mafia plot got better. We'll get rid of those small time crooks and get to deal with more classy people. Introducing gym girl to Sophie, and perhaps soon to other girls, is also step towards bigger harem.

And if criminal boss starts liking MC, it might lead to happenings, like him deciding to marry his girl to MC, while MC is already planning wedding with Bo.

Even though I'm always among the first to say that avns should stick to a lighthearthed tone, I also acknowledge that a touch of drama can help keep the story engaging and hold the reader’s attention throughout the plot.
That’s why I’m fine with this mafia subplot, as long as it reaches a full resolution without diving too far into dark territory or anything worse (which I believe will not be the case for this game, so don't worry guys).
Not to mention, this could lead to some interesting outcomes from mc's point of view, and although the current cast of girls is already pretty big, I wouldn't mind stealing a girl from a mafia boss or something

Of everything related to the mafia, the only thing that interests me is the MC getting revenge on the two guys. Going and shooting them, or even torturing them, isn't particularly satisfying for me. In fact, it's something I'd rather neither do nor watch. I prefer them to be alive and suffer the consequences for a long time.

In any case, my interest in the mafia aspect would be very limited, even if I could get revenge the way I'd like. Although, to be honest, right now my interest is nonexistent.

I haven't opened Kate's route, so the MC and she are just acquaintances. Also, I don't think the MC will become very friendly with the mob boss, because my intention is for the police to take it down.

Yes agree it was unnecessary and came totally out of nowhere. We didn't get a single clue something like that was in her character and it felt pushed in to get this maffia plot running. For me it did only two things it ruined the best girl in the game and wasted a lot of maybe good plot if it was presented in a more thought out manner.

Only one girl so far, and it's Sophie.
Just be sure to make the right choice when the time comes (it's pretty obvious, as long as you pursue her)
