VN - Ren'Py - The Intoxicating Flavor [v0.11.7] [PixelsLab]

I'll start with the bad:
- The English translation contains some grammar and spelling errors. This fortunately improves with each chapter.
- In the first few chapters most sex scenes happen in dreams/imagination. Since the interactions between the characters in the dreams have consequences it is not detrimental.
- In the beginning the dream sequences are hard to understand. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I just want to warn you that this game needs your full attention if you want to enjoy the story.
- The game contains only a small amount of choices after the first chapter.

Why do I give the game 5 stars and why should you maybe keep playing if you didn't like the first chapter? There are severel reasons:
- The story needs a few chapters to establish but becomes really great. It is mysterious but the player learns more and more and the plot keeps being consistent.
- The renders are great and the characters look all phenomenal! I don't really like animations but I can see that the dev crafts them with great skill.
- The characters are interesting and have deep personalities and backstories. The player character is also interesting. I like that he starts morally ambiguous but his mood improves over the course of the game by interacting with the other characters.

I enjoyed the game very much and can definitely recommend it.

The game's quality gets better as it goes along. But there some definite problems at the beginning, where we're supposed to get hooked.

First, the English translation is poor. It gets better, but it takes a long time. And it's still not up to snuff. If you want to shoot for a good story, you have to pay attention to the language. No getting around that, sorry.

And the game is shooting for a good story. There's a lot of thought going into this, and this is a good thing. The trouble is in the execution.

The language problems aren't the only problems. The game is far too confusing at first. This is a mistake I see often. The Witcher TV series, Westworld, are two prime examples. A game or world creator has complete control of the perspective for the audience, and they get carried away. Probably trying to be clever. Clever is good, but it should still be a slave to the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. We KNOW you have complete control over the story, and when it gets this confusing and hard to follow, it comes across as just frustrating.

The lewd scenes belonging solely to a characters imagination... irritating. We want to see what's really going on, not what the characters are fantasizing about. I say "we" because I've seen other people complaining about this, and I agree. To be clear, I'm not saying ALL lewd scenes in the game are only in the characters imagination... but there's a lot of that in the beginning part of the game... again the weakest part of this experience.

The lewd scenes and characters are more than acceptable. At times they are exceptional. For my experience, I had to wade through a lot of frustration to get to this, however. And I don't mean "slow burn" frustration. I'm talking about what I mentioned above.

In the end, if one has a lot of patience, things start to become interesting. I have started to want to see what happens to these characters. That's a positive. So it's a mixed bag and it ends on a good note.

So it's a mixed experience that ends on a good note, yielding a more positive rating.

Be prepared for soap opera, over-the-top supernatural shenanigans, some comic-book character arcs, if you have the patience.

Thank God there's no sex menu. I don't care for games that say "okay, time for a foot fetish scene" or "time for an anal sex scene" or whatevers. That's not how people work, they go at each other when they're attracted to each other and it's not about some dumb menu.

It also hasn't strayed *too much* into convenient bisexual territory. What's a convenient bisexual? And easy way out, make a character that can have sex with boys and girls thus getting around preferences that actually flesh out characters. Hopefully it stays this way.

This is just my two cents. My preferences, my observations. Everybody has their own stuff they want to see in games and of course the dev is free to make whatever type of game they want. Nobody has to cater to my whims, this is just my experience with the game.

5 stars just for the story and writing from start (expcept grammar, it's quite, not quiet god dammit ! )
I didnt like the single element, but I cannot lower the score because of my own preference. I'm really not into vanilla sex. I'm an ass man and there's nothing for us yet. One character only gave a hint. So, unfortunately - blue balls in that regard.

Story is very good and can't say predictable 11/10. I was hooked so bad, I've dropped almost everything else just to keep reading. Will be honest: the amount of good, detailed, thoughtful character's background surprised my a lot. They all are so alive ...gee..can't describe how much I liked them all. Even MC. You know, sometimes you're playing these games and can't drop the feeling of how stupid MC is sometimes, like you would've made another decision etc ? This game is not that case. The guy is really normal and even good human being and maybe we can even learn from him. He's not full of himself, there're no those narcissistic moments, which usually make me sick.

All that being said - this game is easily on the top of my list if we're speaking about story or characters. Sure, DrPinkCake's and Philly's games are both decent and beatiful, but again: here these 2 criterions are better.

Visuals - 4/5
It has moans sound during scenes. Has a little music and sounds. 3/5 for sound.
Animations - 5/5 after Chapter 4. Before that they're clumsy and aren't smooth.
The sex scenes themselves are a bit short to my taste. And there's no any interaction nor choices during.

I wanna briefly speak about the characters. Even more briefly about their look, but a bit details regarding theirs nature.

Maria
Emotionally very rich character. Very strong and admirable woman. Tender, beautiful and very sexy. The way this woman displays her sexuality and desire is soooo hot. My brain stops working because of her qualities.

Inanna
Her whole personality and outlook is just WOW...you know, like usually villains in the games starting to plot revenge or the plan to interrupt our heroes ? This one doesn't give two shits. Very desirable and likeable appearance. Heterochromia is sexy as well. Super cool character.

Katie
Didnt like the look, nor the way she acts or speak. She won me over. No comments.

Alice
I don't like her face, 'cause she looks like a doll and she looks too young in general, although I understand that it's intended. But her nature is so sweet and cool. One of the best characters in whole game. Keep in mind: competition here is very high !

Olivia
I like her very much, except the moment with Skipper and Lil (? Green). And again I may understand her position and motives, but felt a bit too much. Maria Inanna and Liv are keeping Top 3 most sexy gals in the game.

Idk where dev found his inspiration for such a great story, but it's a blessing for sure. Incredible work. Still needs to fix typos.

I was playing this game for a while and i noticed this one is a "slow burn".
As i kept reading, new characters arrived and they are kind of ugly, Alice i can not tell if she is 13 or 45, she is small so she should be underage, but his body is the one of a 40 something that takes care of herlsef and does fitness.

The thing progressed and for some reason a girl wants a flower and she gets mad and decides the way to get back at the mc is seducing him...
Then the most outreageous thing that could happen in a game happened: A SEX SCENE IN A DREAM, the very first one.

Only for this im gonna hate rate it 2. If this becomes a regular thing i will rate it 1.
And yes, there was some scene where bonding was happening, and was exchanged with a "DREAM" SEX.
Whenever something good is hapening in the real world, something from the dream world comes to cut it short.

This Liv girl i will call her fanservice sex provider, i guess she keeps patrons in check, cause the game so far has nothing in the first 5 hours of reading.

Dream Sex scenes always go all the way, unless the protagonist is one of the main girls,which are the ones with the least meaningful sexual content, then this rule breaks.

In this case the main girl is Alice, who is 18 but she is treated like she is 12. Its so obvious that the Dev is trying to save her for later updates, since she is not allowed to do anything.

What happens if MC gets a little phisical with her? The Dream girl will come to the rescue once again. Or the Lewd police.


I dont see the point of escaping to a world where the Mc scapes to a world that not even he can tell what world is that and what timeline.

The entire game revolves around 2 girls that have sex allowed in their variables. One is in the real world and the other one is a dream projection or memory or something convenient for the JJ Abrahams mistery box release. This one could be anything really, she could be a memory of a fortune cookie the MC read once.
If you like variety, dont play this, until December 2022

Pfffffffft *throws up hands*

I mean......the amount of thought and effort that went into this is just unfathomable. A game that contains hours upon hours of content while maintaining the same level of intrigue, writing, renders, and development is just unheard of in most circles. This is a game that's not only engaging, but forces you to stay engaged

The plot is a whole mesh of premises we've seen on this site meshed into a beautifully weaved plot and then amplified. We see a troubled young soul that shows a surprising sense of maturity and understanding while dealing with the demons of his past life and actually having to face them through an occult setting. The dialogue can be quite long (that goes without saying) but it just adds to the idea that we are actually reading and experiencing a novel.

The writing is just superb. It's clear that a considerable amount of effort into creating this elaborate of a storyline and creating such massive character arcs for all characters introduced. The pacing that goes hand in hand with the plot and character development is also realistic

Render quality is of course very solid and animations are an unspoken hero of this game as it does rank pretty highly in terms of fluidity

Just all in all an excellent and even underrated game that I personally have failed to mention in other comments. This VN really does deserve all the love and attention in the world

I've been testing this game again and again over the last years, and nothing really happened to change my opinion:

The renders are GOOD, very good.
The story is a weird and unsatisfying mess, BUT the storytelling is very good.
The animations are very mixed, it varies from cheaply looping pictures to short, well-done videos.
The lewd scenes are still mainly focussed around Liv and Maria - the other women DO have their scenes, but they are mostly around petting and making out.

I stumbled upon this wonderful VN by accident, and I'm really happy I did. It glued me to the screen for 6 hours.

Initially I saw that the game had a seemingly Mary Sue protagonist, some grammar mistakes, and I read the supernatural tag which usually means there is no way to relate to anyone in the story, and the plot is going to be jumping from one asspull solution to another deus ex machina.

What I got was perhaps the best characterization I've seen. Everyone is deep and complex and different from each other in motivations, solutions, morals just like real people, and conflicts arise from these differences, just like in real life. The supernatural elements are an interesting mix of a hard and soft magic system meaning that there are clear rules, you just don't know them yet, and the author was very careful it does not lead into a plot hole.

The sex scenes are tasteful and you can tell they were written by someone who knows what they're talking about. Absolutely great work.

Really good visual novel.

Visually - the renders are top notch. And the lewd scenes the animations are OK at the beginning but by the end (its a 2y ear old game) they are amazing and perfectly looped. No homo but its nice that the author actually chose a normal looking MC with a normal (but large) penis. So often there are these UGLY ass MC's with horsecocks that just ruin it.

Story - very rare for a paranormal story to not go off the rails. So often with long paranormal stories authors will write themselves into a corner but PixieIsLab clearly knows where he is going with it so its interesting and original.

Characters - Really great. The mom and 2 daughters are all interesting I never felt like skipping one persons scenes. Well written characters with their own stories that aren't just inserted into the story purely to service the MC. The MC himself is also very well written. You don't get nearly enough control over his actions and there are very little choices but TBH I would probably play it exactly how the author has written it.

Length - like 6ish hours give or take? as of version 6.5

Game has a pretty slow first chapter with some dream sequences that are a bit confusing but give it a shot.

last note - the author is Russian I think but they must be either fluent bilingual or have a good editor because the grammar was really good and there were almost no spelling errors (certainly no Engrish).

Undoubtedly one of the most intriguing VNs around, different locations than usual, above average rendering and a truly exciting plot. And it does not matter if every now and then there is some small language error, the dev is not a native English speaker, but he totally manages to convey the idea of his narration.

On some moment of the game i just stop thinking about jerking and start attentively read every dialog. I can't beleave how interesting can be history of Inanna (god). I give this game 5 start and 100 start to game developer. Man, keep going, this is the most interesting story tha i have even know. Sorry for my english ^_^.

Well, how to start.
It IS a GOOD game, for sure, but it is AVERAGE for a porn game.
Renders are good, standard for a game with ren'py, but good anyway at least a 4/5.
Story is good too,some says english is awefull, but i'm from a non english country and its perfectly understandable, people are just cunts in general for this point.
But the problem of this game, and why i noted only 3 out of 5 (should be 3.5 but can't vote .5 in here) is it's a loongggg story for little rewards.
Sure there is sex scene, but it's always short, nearly every time in a flashback or dream, and too far in between story scene.
Plus, the story is slow paced, which isnt a default in itself, just you're thrown in here with few insight, and it take literraly hours ( if you take the time to read) before getting any explanation, and that's frustrating.

I have no idea how this game can have 4 stars, I cant bring myself to rate it above 1 star since Im not even able to comprehend the story because the English is so bad you'd think an illiterate goat wrote it.
It's such a shame because the premise seems pretty cool from what I can gather about dreams and stuff, plus the art is decent enough.

If it was rewritten in English It could hold some potential due to the original premise of the story, maby hire someone to help out or even google translate would be better then what the game currently offers for the most parts I'm sure.

What a story! Ended up pulling an all-nighter reading through it from start to finish in one go. Great characters, both in design and personalities. Personally I might have preferred more background music, but that might just be a matter of taste. Very minor issue seeing as I can jut put on my own music. Loved the story! Can't wait to see how it'll all play out. Many tender or endearing moments. Several characters you can't help but root for!

A very original story with a very original MC. The models are excellent and the storyline is compelling. I am donating ASAP!
IT's great that there are game developers still creating new material from original stories rather than the same recycled storylines that we usually see from most games now days.
Only criticism is that the voice for the female orgasms was obviously recorded over a landline telephone and it is obvious and kinda takes away from the scenes at times.

This game is simply amazing.
The story is great, though admittedly the dream aspect of it can be a bit confusing (not that it's a bad thing).
The characters and their interactions are all really good.
The humor, without being absolutely hillarious tends to hit.
Visually it's also got some great graphics.

HOOOWEVER. This game is clearly not made for a quick fap. It does have some stunning scenes but they are usually few and far between.
Regarding the updates as well there is generally one every few months with a reasonable amount of content; storywise; as each update usually has 1 or 2 sex scenes... usually.

In conclusion: if you're the type of person to skip all the dialogue to get to the good bits I'd advise you look for a gallery version. Otherwise this game is a slow burn but has some very good story and characters.

The renders are great but the story... I'm honestly not even sure what to make of it. It reads a bit like those spam emails where they throw in a bunch of random words, phrases and sentences to get past spam filters. Maybe it leads to something more interesting but after a lot of time of what just seems like random babbling, I almost stopped reading completely and just started skipping through to see the images, something I almost never do as I really do love a good story. I just wasn't finding that here.

While I needed some time to get into the story at the beginning (mostly tried and played it as filler between updates of other games then) and even skipped one update or two , for me the story got better with every new update and now I'm really looking forward to how the story unfolds since the last half of them.

It combines beautiful renders, gorgeous girls (with mostly smaller boobs!) with distinct and interesting personalities (this got better with more updates to round them out, they too seemed a bit erratic at first), great dynamics between everyone presented, nice English, and last but not least a really engaging and unique storyline.

As for me, it might be a bit hard at the start as you don't really know what's going on and it all feels a bit strange, so if you don't like mysteries, being in the dark, or supernatural stuff, this won't be for you. But if you stick with it, the story and almost everything will grow (in itself and on you) update by update.

I can't wait to further see it all play out.

It just doesn't make that much sense. It starts out normal but you just get more confused with the obsessive amount of dialogue. The story is probably decent but it's hard to follow. I like the characters but I hate reading unnecessary dialogue. You could sum things up and make the story more clear by simplifying the dialogue.

The game is great.
A good amount of redheads.
The girls are cute.
The story is interesting.
There is some real character work going on and by character, I mean flaws.
Flawed characters are the best.
