This was a beautiful, bittersweet story. In Kyouko, this VN has a brilliantly haunting depiction of what it's like to be a single mother in Japan and the outright disdain one faces for straying, even involuntarily, from socially acceptable norms. ebi-hime's writing shines through as usual as she presents a grounded, strong, independent female protagonist who remains resolute in the face of overwhelming scorn and adversity.
Further, her delightfully precocious daughter Tama provides much needed light-hearted fun that contrasts with and tastefully balances Kyouko's tragedy.
I'm only deducting a point because the MC is such a pitiful fedora-tipping neckbeard for most of the story, I found myself wishing he'd grow a backbone and stop putting women on pedestals. Oh well, this little VN is great despite that.
