My original score for this game was a 3. While my original gripe about this being essentially an extended math equation with sexy bits that you need a spreadsheet to navigate still very much applies, I feel like the story and sexy bits are doing enough work to pull the score up higher. The combat also isn't terrible, which is an accomplishment for a RPGM title.
I genuinely enjoyed pretty much everything to do with the story and the characters themselves. It's just annoying having to metagame constantly to get the result you want. If you haven't played it, it's hard for me to adequately describe how many variables and flags you need to track and how severely missteps or deviations from the optimal path will snowball to screw you later in the game. This is because there is no grinding and resources are entirely finite and quite time sensitive (something I love and hate). There are some opportunities for mitigation of the damage, but definitely no true recovery. You will never quite "right the ship" after forgetting to click on something you may not realize is important at the time, but you can get it vaguely going in the right direction.
If you play this game and cheat with save editing, I personally will not blame you. Will it trivialize some of the systems? Sure. But you'll still enjoy the story and characters.
