same as dozens of other games who are decent; waiting for someone to make a nofuta, noswinging patch.
not a fan of this prevalent 'don't let the consumer filter content' approach when devs prove they can already implement it to get around legal concerns (adult patches, 'step-relatives' patches/settings)

You do realise you sound pretty "snowflakey", right?
At least borderline "Karen".

The consumer has always been able to filter content, by not consuming the content.
Acting all entitled does not endear anyone to you.

I always heard the main example would be the Rance series.

Which is a bit ironic because Rance is kind of a parody in itself, but against very bland goody two-shoes rpg heroes. Rance had such an influence over adult HRPGs coming out of japan that it influenced a lot of them into writing "asshole" or outright "villainous" protagonists.

Part of the problem is that some of those games still wanted to "validate" the protagonist, so they had some very twisted rationalizations about why the asshole protagonist was ultimately "correct" or why he was victorious. It got extra bad when the game lacked the writing chops and didn't really want to write a bleak story with depth, just an "edgier" protagonist. I think this is mostly what TLS is clowning on with the Chosen.

Note that this was mostly a thing in the late 90s-early 00s, nowadays that type of writing is less prevalent.

Hilstara is cool. TBH, I like her and Megail the most. I also rolled through one third of the game exploiting her shieldwall. With the right gear (mammoth armor and such) and some buffs she was unbreakable (not that you'd think so looking at the picture above).

She does gets annoying when she starts literally cockblocking MC out of having fun with other characters (specifically Galvia, one of the very few actual MILFs in this game, who initially proposes 3p). Considering how many other girls she fucks thanks to them joining MC's harem, her refusing to share with MC kind of makes her an egoistic bitch.

There is no "specifically", the scene with Galvia is the only one you can even remotely argue that point. And that's still an awful point because Galvia didn't even want to have sex with Simon, she just offered the threesome because she was afraid Hilstara wouldn't be available otherwise. The literal dialogue:

Galvia: I know you're together with handsome over there... do you think he'd be willing to share? I don't mind him.
Hilstara: He's very open-minded. But is a threesome actually what you want?
Galvia:...Honestly, no. I like him well enough, but you're the one I'm truly attracted to. I just assumed you two... went together.

Hilstara sure is such an egoistic bitch, can't believe she had the gall of double-checking if a woman was actually comfortable with a sexual proposal instead of just misleading her into something she wasn't fully interested in.

Doesn't Hilstara know her entire worth as a person is being in Simon's harem? She owes everything to Simon and should make her life's goal to do nothing but fulfill Simon's desires. And we all know how important it is for Simon's character that he gets to sleep with as many women as possible, specially the ones that aren't really sexually attracted to him and that are barely his acquaintances, that's basically the entire motivation of his character as a protagonist of an adult game.

Pfft, harem's these days smh my head

Wow, calm down, I just voiced my point of view on it, no need to go so agressive about it.

Can we legalize saying weird stuff about 'The Last Sovereign'? What would Simon say in our place? Would Orcent go on a verbal rampage? After all, isn't F95 is a public forum of sorts, just like the sages of old and Jurgen Habermas urged us to maintain, I ask you?

You clearly don't know anything about Hilstara. Or Simon. Or Galvia. Or TLS in general. Please educate yourself on things you decide to discuss.

Insulting the mature muscle waifu is fighting words >:/

But I did lay the sarcasm a bit thicker than absolutely necessary, I'm sorry that it was hurtful. Point still stands that either you misremembered the scene, or you are blaming Hilstara for something that was not her fault, over something Simon's character is not bothered by, and in a way that goes against several established themes of the game.

Seeing how all the messages are still standing and no one was punished outside of the limited scope of the conversation they participated in, I'd say nothing was done to contradict the legality of "saying weird stuff about 'The Last Sovereign'".

A public forum, in its very nature, demands a right of response. A public forum does not function if any person can simply shout whatever nonsense they want and then expect everyone else to only either be agreeable or quiet about it. If any single person was above being responded negatively, it wouldn't be much of a "public" forum.

It is the difference between being punished for your error and being punished by your error.

Also Orcent is 100% the kind of person that would bury fools with his words, he just does it with such wit and finesse that you'd have trouble even finding their graves.

Simon on the other hand would respond with "..." and a scowl, then proceed to replace key influential figures with copies and covertly promote those better aligned with his views until they are capable of directing the public discourse (refer to how Simon handled the political problems in Zirantia and Yhilin).
