Then, disregarding the fight, is there any way to trick the game into thinking she joined? Because the scope of my cheating involved getting the best possible outcome in every interaction (except apparently, opening the vaults) and acquiring every investment, so a save that just followed a walkthrough would not be the same...

...After a couple of hours of messing about with the flags it seems I may be SOL, either way?
Load your save with this. If you have a save before you enter the island, load it with this, place the 5 items, get the last person, then move the save back to your version. It should work.

I actually did it. Okay so I extracted the game, found the variables for cheat detection and made them 0 instead. I've uploaded it here.
Play the game normally, defeat all the bosses and SAVE before entering the crypt. Load your save with this version, place the 5 incubus king items and you should summon the last harem member, fight, save after, then transfer the save back.
I've included my Save 81 which is before this. Just load that up, summon and save after then transfer back to the public release and you should have her.
I've only tested this myself so I don't know if it'll work for you. I also don't know if this'll corrupt a save, hence why I included save 81.

I'm planning on restarting TLS eventually but I'm not tossing my current 157 hour playthrough just because Sierra put in a roadblock for me.

Also including Save 82 which is my save after her battle. The trigger is baked into the map, not the save so using 81 in the public release will only get you the Victory Sword.

I'm having trouble activating the Death fight (yes, I cheated, I raised money, stats and managed to miss opening the war vaults), despite making sure that all the cheats fall inside "acceptable" ranges:
  • 300,000 Sx or more. (Currently ~220,000)
  • 10,000,000 PRON or more. (Currently ~5,000,000)
  • Simon level> 110 (the maximum legit level should be around 105/106). (Currently 105)
  • 52 or more SS. (1 in inventory, converted the rest)
  • Super Sword in the inventory. (Nope)
Yet still no fight, just victor sword.
You missed opening War Vaults which mean you had to cheat in order to add one of the unique Incubus King items... that is why you can't trigger the fight

Can anyone fill me in on the instances of when you want to avoid combat until you recruit a certain character so that they don't miss out on exp? Certain examples I know so far are Aka, Robin, and Hilstara. I just got to Devil's Pass act 1 following a guide but now I want to play it blind moving forward and I really don't want party members missing out on exp just because I fought monsters the moment I see them

Ardford Summit is another instance. The character's name is Vhala. There might be more instances, I remember only about this one.

Thanks! I did a quick skim through the party member list in the wiki and walkthrough and also found Altina. I should probably stop worrying about this and just go full blind playthrough but it's hard not to knowing the limited exp

There are instances, when this game doesn't make much sense. Altina's case is one of them. She gets bonus EXP based off of the main protagonist level. Does that really make sense? Not really. Does this happen for all characters you gain? Again, not really... Do EXP matter for anyone beside Simon (outside of combat)? Again, AFAIK only Simon's EXP really matter. So what's the point? ... To fuck with the player, I guess? o_O

the only character you got something significative is robin, because if you collect all xp with her she unlock her lighing lance spell the fight before a boss weak to lighting. the other charater matter very little, and from early to mid chapter 3 any difference is utter maeangiless. a single level up give you a pittance of stats (and i mean 2/3 points at best) it's don't change anything. in early game with low stat a few point can be relevant, but more relevant it's the skill unlock.

in reality vhala don't join the most relevant fight hidden port and i don't remember the sx wall outside that there is no fight in the section were she isn't mandatory,

you want pick up her earlier because she gain rp in some scene. the xp balance is utterly irrelevant
