the next detective talk is the undercover whore agent thing. i tried. nothing changes. if i follow a clown he just pisses in the garbage.
You need the female clown. You need to have talk to the undercover agent twice at the motel, then talked to the detective, after talking to the detective, a female clown appears twice on the night you get the quest to get the disguise, if you fuck it up she doesn't respawn. You need your fame at 6, and finished the John stuff. The male clown is garbage.
I fucked up the options for the female clown. Literal stupid., twice by experimentation, there's x4 events. It doesn't come back. Every night is a stupid male clown. I don't know why it's there apart from to trip you up, no fame or when doing where's the John quests, it's there. Why is there? Tedious.
I got the costume but didnt work at the circus, dont even know where that is supposed to be. Its really odd, that the game to this point is fairly straight forward with the quests.
Looks like this for me and i cant do anything. Got not Exclamation marks on the map or anything. Cant visit the detective anymore in the evening either.

I was stuck there for a while, I had to go back to an earlier save before these steps then come back and do them in order. I have a walkthrough on the thread that details the steps I did.
It needs a fix. There's no correct way to play a game, every way is the correct way. It shouldn't game break to the point of being stuck where progress is halted. If it is, that's game over, game over should be something killing you and not from playing it.

Grind, grind, grind. So much grind! Amazing art, story, and characters. The gameplay isn’t bad for the first couple of hours, but the grind and long, unskippable animations are just insane. I hope they improve this before release.

If this is for the crime dissatisfaction make sure you only have one police unit on the map, put the criminal groups on the opposite side of the map, and only do one at a time - each has a time limit of about an hour. One at a time they'll last until about the 6am cut off, do NOT put the last one down past 4:45am as you will lose the last push from it and run out of time.
