Honestly, the potion is the one plot point I'm not too crazy about.
It usually comes off like an unnecessary forced explanation for the sudden horniness of everybody in the setting. Everybody who plays these games accepts the tonal shift so it doesn't need to be justified.
Especially strange since this game has Lincoln spy on Lynn almost immediately and the backstory also clearly shows sexual feelings well before the "homogenous solution." It feels like the building of Lincoln's confidence, the decision to engage in the taboos of incest and polyamory, and the sexual tension that the story builds up so well are all somewhat betrayed when the sex potion goes "Actually, it was all thanks to me!"
I have no doubt it will framed as something like "the potion didn't invent those feelings, it only encouraged you a little", but the point still stands if the characters did anything they would've done without it. Otherwise, there's no reason it would exist.
Realistically, if Lincoln knew a mind altering drug had any influence on his recent sexual developments, he would question the validity and morality of his new relationships and swear off sexual contact with anyone, at least until Lisa could revert it.
I understand and accept your criticism in this regard. There are some folks who wouldn't mind a tonal shift where Lincoln just builds a Harem because of the circumstances as they're present.
For DMF and I though, we just couldn't see it being believable that Lincoln could start having sex with every woman around him without some kind of catalyst involved.
While we are saying Lucy always had those incestuous feelings and wasn't ashamed of them, for all the other sisters they were locked away and buried.
You are correct in that the potion isn't mind control and more unlocks buried feelings and hidden desires. It's also a plot device for Lincoln being able to bang the background characters from the series.
We wanted to make it believable within the context of the universe while also catering to the audience for a porn game. I think we're doing a good job, and as I said more will be revealed as the plot moves forward.
Lincoln *will* have his own doubts and misconceptions and wrestle with the morality of the situation. Our job as creators is to make sure it's believable and compelling while also not getting in the way of the fantasy of being Lincoln and fucking your sisters.
Time will tell.
But for us this is a plot point that allows for horny adventures while also not destroying the setting. Like was brought up with Rita and Lynn Sr, we dont want them getting a divorce but we want Lincoln to be able to fuck his mother if the player wishes.
There is another version of this game where you have the potential to play a completely dark Lincoln who can destroy all the relationships around him and sexually enslave everyone or be wholesome and pure and keep those relationships while having a Harem.
The problem is we're a two man team and I have a day job. If I made enough money to work on this game full time I'd be all for that kind of game set up and way more choice.
But as it is we're trying to tell the best story with some important choices while giving you tons of hot content and keeping the wholesome feeling of the show, with the limited resources and time that we have.
