I really wish I had y'alls tolerance for a derpy MC. I was quit interested in the premise on this one but pretty much every line of dialog from the MC is like nails on a chalkboard (for me). I actually tried to get AI to de-derpify the MC dialog lines in the code files but the small corrections were overwhelming. :)
this render matches the MC. but honestly I don't care for a MC most of the time so it's easy for me to not be bothered by it.

I remember it bothering me the first time I played this too but eventually got used to it. Barely even notice it anymore. Occasionally a render of the MC's face pops up and I roll my eyes but that's it.

Yeah..., I'm not b..b..bo..bother..bu..bu..butter..buttered by it, either.

I hear you Des and I've rejected so many titles because of a derp MC. It's just how I read. I want to assume the identity of the main character and enjoy the story FPS style. Easy enough when it's a strong MC (dropsaga) but it's intolerable most of the time for so many others. My rejection spreadsheet tabs are full of titles where my comment is basically "looks great, writing and story seem on but it's a class 5 derp and I can't stand it".

So like I said... I envy y'alls ability to just put it on the side. Maybe I'll try that once I run out of content :)

Interesting setting Ceo uses for compression, he pondered ~1.5 years ago on some compression levels, he ended up with ~92% but the file sizes are double of what they would be if left uncompressed.
An ingame render has quality of ~90-92% and the size of 194KB
he showcased the lossless quality render, which is definetly above the quality of 90-92 but the size was 80.1KB , and it retained way higher detail, not the true .png one, but still quite high.

Hey everyone,

No news today, no progress on the game.
I spent the whole week creating fancy Halloween renders of all sorts.
I know this is exactly what you've all been wanting. Who needs game progress anyway, right?
This is the way.

Kidding aside, I know a lot of devs come out with special renders these days, but I won't.
I rarely do seasonal/themed renders anyway, and I simply don't have the time for it right now.
My main focus is to get the new chapter done, and every free minute goes into that.
Sometimes I wish I had more time for playing around or just sitting down and doing something not game-related in DAZ, but Halloween is NOT one of those moments; I just can't stand it. :-D

I finished the work on the last scene before the chapter endings, and both PC's are busy 24 hours a day, rendering all the animations and static renders in the queues.
Winter is coming (we have close to 0°C at night now), but my office is at a "lovely" 27°C (that's ~80 °F for you Americans).

Right now, I'm working on the first of the two endings.
The script for it is almost done, and I'm trying to catch up with the renders for it.
Finishing the script and the renders for the first branch will most likely keep me busy for the majority of the next week. I hope to be done with it before the next Dev log, but knowing myself, I come up with a few more ideas for renders while setting up the planned ones.

As I am at the final steps for the chapter, there won't be any more preview renders to avoid spoilers.
Maybe I'll set up some Halloween renders... not!

Here are the numbers for this week:
118 new static renders for a total of 1765
0 new animations (poor PC's are still busy rendering the ones from last week), total still 24
467 new lines in the script file for a total of 6262

Hey everyone,

I hope you all survived Halloween, but the next disaster is already looming on the horizon: Christmas. I love the end of the year, so many things to look forward to...

Game-wise, it was a pretty normal week. I finished the script/code for the first Chapter ending and got most of the renders done. Probably 10-20 more of them, and the scene is done.
I expect to finish them this weekend.
The second ending is a bit longer and a bit more... complicated.
For example, I need to set up 3 more environments for it.
It's one of the moments in the story I've been looking forward to working on for a pretty long time, but I also expect it to take me longer than the first ending (hence why I started with the other one).

The numbers for this week:
104 new static renders for a total of 1869
0 new animations
349 new lines in the script file for a total of 6611

So, is the next chapter the last one? WIth all these endings, or is it like the "bad" endings or "out of the main story" type ones, like we get wiped out, or we move to EU with Fiona never to return?

I think he's just referring to the ending of the chapter.

Hey everyone,


We're in November, we just survived Halloween (I, at least), and Christmas is just around the corner.
Additionally, my full-time job has been taking quite a bit more time than usual lately, but that should hopefully improve over the next several weeks.
And during all this busy time, I'm trying to get this new Chapter done.
In general, I'm pretty satisfied with the progress, and I am still on schedule with the plan I had set for myself.

Right now, I'm working on the two chapter endings, with the first being almost done.
I'll start working on the second one (which will be longer and more "complicated" than the other one) this weekend or early next week.

I still won't give a release date because I want to make sure I can meet it once I communicate one.
And working alone on this also means that if something unexpected happens, the development progress can take a pretty huge hit.

That said, I don't expect to post another "full" Dev Log before release, and the next thing you'll hear from me (if everything goes as planned...) will be the announcement of the Beta status.


December will be a pretty important month for the game, between the Steam Winter Sale and Chapter 7 being close to release.
For visibility on Steam, reviews (and especially recent reviews) play a big role.
If you haven't written a review and can spare the time to write a short review, I'd appreciate it a lot.
Every review helps with visibility, and every feedback is welcome for the further development of the game.

As of now, the game consists of 1869 static renders and 24 animations.
The length is now about the same as Chapter 5.
