Everything in the thread looks very promising.
Thank you!
Gonna take this chance to info dump everything I'm permitted to dump on y'all.
Ambition is a fantastic motivator, but can also be a monster to overcome. Don't lose sight on your reasons for wanting to develope this project. Complete character immersion is something myself, and i imagine other people, look forward too the most.
This is still the goal and going over what's been written so far, I believe we're accomplishing it.
We want to allow various approaches that won't cause like drastic narrative splits but the team has expressed interest in at least four approaches to talking to the characters.
1. Reluctant. An MC that isn't really hyped about being a mutant.
2. Enthusiastic. An MC that things entering the world of Super Heroes is cool.
3. Kinda a dick. Typical indifference with slight snark.
4. And one we're just calling silly. This is the hardest one to write for since we don't want to break your immersion with random lol humor. It's not the most fleshed out primarily because we can't decide if we want the MC to potentially be clinically insane or just a class clown.
Personally, I vote for clinical insanity with Paprika Trainer being a good inspiration but we're not limiting players to a single "route" and you'll be able to pick all options so being insane one moment and not the next would be kinda hard to keep track of seeing as characters will respond to previous choices in many cases.
Although all this is up for revisions. So these character types may be changed extensively depending on where we go with things.
For me, having a small pool of characters (You've mentioned Rogue, Laura and Jean as the starting options) is totally fine if everything about them is flushed out. Clothes, poses, dialogue, story, etc... having all of this done for the characters when they become available would be HUGE. It gives value to new characters, knowing that when they hit the game, they're good to go. Oni's style of "Hey here's the character but you can't do anything with them for 6 months" its the worst fucking thing and drives me crazy. Obviously things like extra costumes can come later, but having a solid core at launch would be amazing.
While I'm choosing not to comment on Oni's work for the sake of professionalism and civility, we won't be having that issue.
Every character when introduced will have their story set up, sex scenes implemented, full portraits, and outfits ready to go.
Every girl will have a Day-Wear, Date-Wear, Workout-Wear, Swim-Wear, Sleep-Wear, Winter-Wear, and hero suit at their implementation. The player will be able to buy and gift skimpier-looking swimsuits and lingerie for the girl.
We're currently discussing skimpier outfits of the other outfits as in if we want to have it for all girls, if they're giftable or if they buy it themselves after you've slept with them enough.
We also have an idea of having the hero suit change every chapter to simulate how the X-Men change uniforms at the beginning of new comic-runs or team changes. Though that's probably the lowest on the priority list and may even be a post-launch feature. We all want it but we're not gonna let it hold back development time on important things.
I'll note that we do have three types of characters.
1. NPCs. People here just to serve the purpose of the story or to fulfill a utility role. Like Nightcrawler will give hints, Forge will give you gear, Beast being... Anything we need for biology basically. Might make him the guy to give the player male birth control for players who want to opt-out completely in regards to pregnancy content.
2. Main girls. Girls who will have the full feature complete set up with multiple story arcs during each chapter they're in. They'll be in the sandbox mode at all times.
3. Side girls. Characters who mostly only have an arc exclusive to the chapter they're introduced in and/or serve as booty calls. You can repeat scenes with them by visiting them or going to the danger room to play with holograms if they're unavailable for some reason or another.
We've already decided on everyone that will be included in the game up to its completion.
Once the game is done we'll be adding "DLC" which will basically be adding girls with stories in the sandbox mode, adding girls retroactively into the plot if it makes sense, and potentially upgrading side girls into main girls if they're popular enough.
I don't mean to beat a dead horse but WAYYY to many devs get caught up in the 'end goal' vision and comepletly fuck themselves over. This is a game/project i feel VERY strongly about and wish you all nothing but the best. Just thought i would toss my 2 cents in and remind everybody involved in the project to BREATH. No rush.
Oh trust me. I turned my brain to goo doing comic-book research for sub-plots during the Shadow King's chapter and the plot and sub-plots for everything after that chapter.
The X-Men have fought off SO MANY ALIEN INVASIONS. I love all of you hyped but people looking forward to a Brood storyline will sadly need to go fuck themselves lol
But yeah we're focusing on one storyline at a time.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I want a ticket refund.
