If you finish the first "Dating" quest, is there a follow up or do I just have to stumble upon the next events?
(Or did I break the game? ^^)

Sleep in your room alone. I thought I broke it too for awhile. Then got rapid fire events by sleeping alone.

Dev chat said they'd let you alter some stuff. Try talking to the girls.
Sorry, I was trying to not get too detailed/technical. What I mean is, there are checks in game to list the quirk in the character's bio. That are checking against numbers of said quirk. However, there are quirks whose number can ONLY be updated by one off events at this time. The one I'm thinking of is Rogue's masochism.

Code:
./characters/Rogue/events/relationship/quirk.rpy:697: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./characters/Rogue/events/relationship/quirk.rpy:733: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./characters/Rogue/events/relationship/boyfriend.rpy:618: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./characters/Rogue/events/relationship/enjoying.rpy:274: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./characters/Rogue/events/dates/first_date.rpy:766: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./characters/Rogue/events/studying/chapter_one/season_one/study_sessions.rpy:63: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./scripts/events/chapter_one/day_two.rpy:556: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
./scripts/events/chapter_one/Sentinel_attack.rpy:1270: $ Rogue.History.update("masochism_encouraged")
In the above list, the updates in quirk.rpy is under "Rogue_penultimate_penultimate_quirk", which is a one time event. boyfriend.rpy is the event where you two become boyfriend/girlfriend, which is one-time. enjoying.rpy is the one time event where she says she's enjoying being in a relationship with you. The remainder are self-explanatory for which one time event they are.

So, if you've finished the content and then got into 0.5a, you can't increase the count for masochism_encouraged, in this iteration of the game, unless you re-start the game.

That's what I was trying to say.

I would say that it may be easier to just start over again (or at least start from an old save (where you are only dating Rouge)).

Also, you do not have to monitor your love/trust points (like that other guy said), all you have to do is make sure you tell the other two girls that you "just want to be stay friends" until you can convince Rouge to go poly (then talk to the 2nd girl you want to date and there should be an option like "I want to be more than just friends" (then finish the 2nd girl's date quest convince her to go poly and bring in the 3rd girl)).

By the way, the girls have better dialogue in some of the season transition scenes if you have high love/trust points with the girls, and if they are friends with each other (go swimming with all three of the girls to raise their friendships).
Actually technically rogue only gets mad when you're in an official relationship with her. Feel free to date all the girls at once. Though after rogue asks you to be her boyfriend, whenever the girls ask you out, don't be a dick, just say you can't and that's that, raise their affection via gifts and compliments. once rogues is high enough and she is best friends with the other girls or one of the girls, ask her about other girls and she will say yes.

I know in v0.4a, even if you're not in an official relationship yet, if you've flirted with someone "in front" of Rogue (as in, she doesn't have to be on screen but she is in the same room) that gets logged as cheating which won't go into affect until AFTER you've gotten into a relationship with her and after she's agreed to being poly and you've dated another girl and even told her about it. Did the devs fix that in this version?

A good QOL change would be to stopthe hair from changing to a generic style when changing to different poses. Hair looks odd in the lie back and missionary positions

Right, but that's only consequential regarding the relationship menu. In game you're still able to ask the girl about her quirks and change things around as needed regardless of how old the save is or how many times you encouraged/discouraged things previously.

You can't get past level 5, it's the current max level for now. Sex with all current available girls will be unlock by progressing the story and their relationship

Agreed and confirmed. I would only add that the display in the relationship menu may cause players (myself included) to not think we've activated/encouraged that quirk. But, of course, that would only be an issue until, possibly, the next update when one does run across an event where said quirk is encouraged.

So, in short, this might only be a graphical issue which may be resolved in the future and only for people that hasn't restarted the game since this update, but might cause some confusion during.

How much VRAM do you have? It actually is possible that a new save might fix some of the memory issues depending on how old the save is, but if the issue is that the image cache is too big for your GPU then there might not be a way around it :(

I've tried a bunch of things to optimize the game, but the main bottleneck I'm hitting right now is that Live2D requests that Ren'Py load in all of a model's images every time the model is shown. eg. Rogue has like 46 images because of all the clothing items, and they aren't that small

I've thought about trying to modify Ren'Py to check if a model's image is actually going to be used before loading, but it's not a trivial check and has some downstream consequences that I haven't felt like messing with yet

open to suggestions. right now I think something like 4 GB of VRAM is required to play the game, but even that might be pushing it
That's some interesting info on the technical side of things there. I figured it would probably be something to do with the visuals, but I didn't realise that would be because the game has to load ALL of a model's image files at once. That seems incredibly unhelpful on Live2D's side.
I've just checked and, assuming I'm looking at the right setting in Windows, then I've got 4.255 GB of VRAM. It's been enough to play the game just fine in the past but currently seems not to be. I might just start clean from a new save file, see if that helps any.
Huh? What do you mean?
I was about to back up UnsavouryPursuits on how I too see a significant change in performance.
But then you scared me with this comment so I quickly downloaded 0.5 and loaded a save.
It is totally playable with my 1GB vRAM.
Are you sure you are launching TNH with GPU UnsavouryPursuits ?
Although yeah, every time a character enters or leaves scene it lags game for a <1sec, which is noticable mostly when someone leaves or the scene is room change.
My first guess - check if you didn't overdone the optimalistation, maybe some check if the removal is actually required? Or lag it to the next loading part, so the amount of "loading" phases gets cut /2.

But other than those mini lags and more lags when using skip, I had no issues in game or sex scene with Jean. (don't have access to other ones so I can't try).

Aaaand since I am already here - let's do the uusual session of sharing my issues:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
I'll check
I've had crashes before this update as well, but they were only ever in the sex scene realm and then recent updates had smoothed that out. I agree there's a notable difference in performance with this newest version which, judging from what ronchonbon said above, is down to the new clothes and their files.
I've checked that I'm running the game with GPU, set it for high performance in Windows settings, and done a quick test play. There definitely seems to be an improvement in terms of loading, being much quicker and less stuttery, but the game still doesn't like it when one of the girl enters the room or Null enters a room with one or more girls in it. Still had some memory crashes there. Like I said, I think I'll just have to start a new save again and see how that goes.

We don't advertise girls until they appear in game.

If/When we add Emma, you'll still have to play through the chapters before she appears in.

1. Clothes were given to other girls.

2. Stuff was added to her default wardrobe.

3. Some clothes unlock as time passes.

Dude I just got through stats. Don't make me do math on a porn website.
Will there be animation of sex scenes with clothes on?

For a long time I wanted to write my opinion, but I was always too lazy.
Something constantly made me angry, irritated me in this game, but I couldn’t understand what exactly. The art is good and the text is nice, and the possibilities in the game are good, but something still irritated me. And then I realized.
So - how this game was inspired by the game from Oni,
then I think it would be fair to compare these 2 games.
1. Freedom of choice and behavior. In the game from Oni, we could be a jerk or a amiable gentleman for girls. The game did not limit us on how and what to do. At all. To have sex, you need to score love/submission points/or get into the “bitch in heat” time. We didn’t have to go through “seasons” and "tasks". Just be cute or a jerk - and you still got the girl. The only question is time.
In this game you are strictly limited by “tasks”, “points” (love and trust) and the actual completion of other tasks. You won't get a girl any way around. You can't catch her naked in the shower, you can't catch her having sex with another girl, you can't be a dominant male. Follow the plot line strictly. Game don’t have the same freedom of action as Oni`s does.
2. Relationships and the system of their development are also upsetting. I don't like Laura and Jean. At all. I don’t want to build relationships with them, waste time on them, take them on dates, etc. However, the game says that I should. But I don't want to, no, you have to. The Oni`s game gives me a choice with whom to build relationships and how to build them. Or forget about some character(s).
3. The plot development itself is incredibly long, lasting a couple of hours (without cheats). To see the sex scene you need to read, click, read, click, read, click for 1.5 hours. All 3 girls have 100% the same actions. Which simply kills the desire to start the game again. In the Oni`s game, in 5-10 minutes you can already fuck Rogue or Kitty. And then compare it with spending 2 hours on text and clicking windows here. The only thing where Oni's game loses is in the quality of art and slowness when there are 2 or more characters in the frame. Otherwise, for me personally, this game will lose.

Wishes:
The same restaurant/movie. Add a biker club for Rogue, a boxing club for Laura,
and something nice for Jean. Let's say an ice cream parlor where she feeds her little brother ice cream. Draw some kind of sex hotel, a “red room” (BDSM hotel) in the city. And finally add threesome. Change the development of relationships with girls so that you can ignore one/2/3/4 of them. The plot will not suffer; they will still come to the rescue.
That all.

The team are clear that this is inspired by RLE, but they are different games. This one is relationship/plot focussed, for your points 1 and 3 that's the nature of the game. The dev team encourage playing RLE because they are different.

There is no requirement to develop any relationship, you can pretty much ignore them past the initial intro.

New locations are part of work in progress, we're told, awaiting art.
