That certainly "helped", but no, it's not just because of that. If that were the case anywhere that doesn't use growth hormones (basically everywhere except the USA (and probably China / Russia)) would be populated by midgets.

Actually, if you look historically, the chinese used to be massively shorter. And have massively sprang up in sizes as diet changed
Also, china food is a disaster when it comes to adulteration

In the beginning there was a lot of shouting that the idea for the game was stolen from Rogue-like: Evolution(I mean yes the game was inspired by that and it's even written as you start playing...), but we ignored them and they left, I also think it helps that Shiny does a great job as the community contact person.
