Devs have said the game will more or less cover the plot of the comics "released between between Giant-Sized X-Men #1 and the Onslaught Saga" the latter of which I believe either happened or ended in 1997. So characters that were created after 1997 are considered off the table.

There's some exceptions, like X-23 being part of the story despite being originally introduced in 2003, which is due to her having her art assets made before the team decided on the scope and range of the game.

Update 0.8 will be some time around march. I believe the goal of updates 0.8, 0.9 and 1.0 will be to make Chapter 1 more or less feature and content complete, but we know it will not start chapter 2. Chapter 2 will start with update 1.1, and who knows when that will happen.

I assume it's a matter of art budget, but I agree that would be dumb to only see characters whose cheeks we can clap.
Fingers crossed it's something they reevaluate in the future.

Theres art of Xavier, Kurt and Colossus, also technically Scott and Logan, but only on a CGI.

Damn guess I'll play the new build next year. Also one suggestion for chapter two or maybe even chapter 1 but not as "strict" try adding someone to go up against for all the girls. Scott the jealous ex boyfriend for Jean, logan the father figure for Laura, and prof x for storm as her boss. Idk would be cool to have another metric to consider when dating or angering these women. if this was already talked about then ignore my comment haha

We made this decision because we didn't want to deal with constant demands that they be made sexable. We're already hounded for Storm despite repeatedly saying that she will be, we're simply still in development.

So if we're screaming into a loudspeaker that yes this one character will be fuckable once we have the resources and people still don't notice that, then making art that could go to characters you will be fucking would not only be a waste, it'd just increase a headache.

We're currently in a spot because Cyclops and Wolverine are very low on our priority list due to budgetary reasons despite their presence in the Phoenix Saga.

Squirrel Girl was introduced in 1990, the cut off is going to be 1996. And I think characters from the X-men are going to be the priority. So they'll appear before anyone else.

Correct. However non-X-Gals have spent lengthy times with the X-Men or have made multiple guest appearances.

Ms. Marvel and Spiderwoman being two major examples. While stuff going on in their own comic will prevent them from being fully romancable, that won't mean they're off the table for sowing the seeds of a potential relationship in a sequel... or just sowing your seed.

Though that is beholden to the desires of our writers and if they do want to include something, they are beholden to our budget.

When you mention she's a potential character it makes me wonder. If there're 3 girls per chapter, so 15 or 18 depending on whether you'll include another trio in the free roaming chapter, and a rule to go by is that they have to be female mutants introduced or relevant throughout the story arcs you're adapting, then how many candidates you have? Roughly speaking, how big is the pool you're selecting from?

From my notes the time period we have contains at least 20 female recurring characters if you exclude villains and non-mutants.

Looking at all of the reveals, there's 12 left in the pool to choose from if we decide to make Cecilia a full character instead of a cameo.

There's also like about 6 one off characters Null could have a fling with and 5 villainesses. We're really hesitant on Null having a "relationship" with villains because we're avoiding the trope of dick so good it changes someone's moral alignment.

I'm really glad that the devs are willing to hold back in certain areas for the sake of the story.

I also hope that maybe we could get a hangout with Collosus in Chapter 2 like how (we attempted) to hang out with Nightcrawler by going to the comic shop
