I'm still slowly working through a new save, taking my time exploring all the updated art, dialogue, and relationship/sex mechanics in Chapter 1. It's all pretty damn fantastic of course, but there is one minor issue (at least IMO) I've come across in the new system I feel is worth pointing out.
So I've started dating Jean without yet having opened up the possibility of dating the others. But I like Laura too, and I'm building up that friendship at the same time. Problem is, there's no way of actually talking to the girls in person that isn't a part of the Flirting menu. Late one night, I'm hanging out with Laura in the Danger Room and decide to compliment her. Instantly, Jeannie the Psychic Queenie storms in and drags me away up to her room to tell me how absolutely fucking pissed off and heartbroken she is after having telepathically witnessed Null so lasciviously, lewdly whispering into Laura's ear that... studying isn't so bad as she thinks and she's really a good student.
I mean, what? I had a laugh, but thank god for rollback.
Now I get that part of the point is that these girls are all slightly nutty in various ways. Still, even for somebody as obsessive as Jean, blowing up at Null because of an exchange as simple and decent as that seems far too extreme. Perhaps a fix would be to add a casual, non-flirty in-person dialogue option which allows you to simply chat, or else just go through the various compliment lines and check which ones are friendly remarks and which ones should be flagged as cheating and actually deserve for you to get chewed out by your tele/psychopathic girlfriend.
(Unless this is all an entirely intentional point of Jean's characterisation and she's deliberately designed to react like this to something so minor, in which case, feel free to ignore me.)
