Hi guys, I have two questions if anyone can please help.

1. What actions consume time? How do we know?

2. Moving to a location where a girl is apparently moves the girl away?! Rogue is listed on the map as being at the Mansion Entrance. So I go there. Then she's gone. I look at the map she's moved to the Kitchen while I was moving to the Entrance. Very annoying. Anyone know what's up with this?
1 - Most actions will consume time, for example, having a shower, going to class, training in the danger room. Moving between rooms or talking to someone does not consume time.

2 - That should not be happening and it sounds like a bug. Report it.

As an aside, you get a free shower in the morning I believe (Unless thats just from perks you can unlock.)

Summoner got updated v0.5.1, to hide the knobs if the interface is hidden for screenshots or whatever reason.
(If you use this mod, please tell me if you've spotted/find goofy stuff :))

As said before, that's not normal.
Can you be more specific about this behavior when this happens? Always or in a season, Daytime? I'm asking out of curiosity).

Which you have to unlock, which you might not know about if you are playing the game for the first time, which is why I have not mentioned it. Not to mention that that perk only works in the morning or at night. Showers will still consume time during the day.

If I am reading the chart correctly that means the next update won't have Storm, Kitty, and Daz since they are supposed to be the LI's for chapter 2, right?
I thought with the sneak peeks we have gotten they they were gonna be part of the next release.
Yeah, they always said they want to finish all the game mechanics before adding more characters and story to streamline development.

ShinyBoots1993, little request. Mind to ask the devs to add images for their rear view? I mean smacking asses is fine but you'll never see them from behind in their outfits.

In a Perfect world we could get it but budget and time limits what can be done.
Pretty much this.

Just a little frame with a hand blended in is fine, i think. Just a single picture, no need to add 30+ images using live 2D and stuff but a render for each outfit.
e.g.
Still takes time and money away from other things but I can put this on the todo list as I'm a slut for anything that gives us more comic panels.

Definitely don't want another 10-15 years game.
I really hope you're being hyperbolic.

I remember when we got complaints about us updating too frequently.

Thats precisely the reason why they want to reach 1.0 before starting to add new chapters, if you get the game done first, then all you need to do is add more content to it instead of working on the mechanics and then finding out something in the code breaks down the line.
I don't know why we have so many people who don't think this is a good thing.

Fckng great.
And don't even try to tell me how necessary it was or how rare this occasion will be. For grindy games like this - it's bullshit. Period.
Okay legitimate question.

No snark, no sarcasm.

Do you believe we wanted to break saves?

Or that we made no attempt to fix the issue without breaking the save?

Again I'm not making fun of you or attempting to be hostile.

I genuinely want to know if you genuinely believe there was malice toward you and other players behind this action.

Mmm it would be nice to recover items and money, if not exp, from our last save. Would it be possible? ShinyBoots1993
I don't know about being able to "recover" but I can ask around to see if there's something to alleviate things.

With an update drawing people in, soon the cycle of questions will start anew here. And I will become like Peter once more.

You're giving me flashbacks.

So this is 0.8c they're working on that'll be coming soon? To my understanding this will just be bringing dialougue updates and smoother gamplay?

It's been 3 months since .08b and we're just now moving to .08c :/ I don' mean to sound rude, just itching to get to some of these art previews we've seen for the S1 girls that aren't planning to be implemented to 0.9 at the earliest :(
General reminder that we are in active development of a video game. One where we have actually forked the engine to include things like real time physics.

Not every release is going to be content heavy until all of the systems are in place.

Not to throw shade but just look at Summertime Saga, Rogue Like Evolution, Yandere Simulator. The devs did not think long term when it comes to development.

Summertime Saga spent SEVERAL YEARS to fix their code. Yandere Simulator is essentially malware with how demanding it is on even high end computers. There is no such thing as a STABLE build of Rogue Like Evolution.

Again, no shade. It's just reality. We either do it right the first time or we end up with a mess that is a pain in the ass to work with.

Edit: I've just been informed that Summertime Saga is still having issues reimplementing things even after cleaning their code. Do y'all really want us to go through the same thing?

I also played Marvel Midnight Suns, and I think it's pretty underrated.
Fucking mood.

Nobody knows. When 1.0 comes out depends on if 0.8c (tech upgrade and optimization coming out by the end of the month) and 0.9 have any issues popping up since 1.0 is supposed to be a very ironed build of base gameplay systems so that 1.1 onward is mostly just adding new content and scenes as opposed to constantly going back and tweaking base systems non stop like other projects.
Essentially.

There will be bug fixes of 1.0 but by the time 1.1 every system we want will be in place. Adding art and writing won't be changing anything under the hood.

So if we ever have to fix a bug past 1.1 assume the machine spirits are angry and we have to sacrifice some of you to the Omnissiah.

Considering that we're on a summertime saga release pace at the moment, probably early next spring
Dude summertime saga release pace was multiple years. I'm prone to hyperbolic statements myself but this is a new level.

As long as the game doesnt get abandoned having to push things back a few months isn't the worst
I can assure you that no one on staff has lost any passion for the project. I wouldn't even consider 0.8c to be pushing things back because it fixed some things. If we're lucky it may speed things up.

If I am reading the chart correctly that means the next update won't have Storm, Kitty, and Daz since they are supposed to be the LI's for chapter 2, right?

Part of the reason the sneak peaks exist is to counter the accusations that we're just sitting around.

As someone with eyes in the dev room, I can assure you that Chapter 2's art and writing are being worked on while the under the hood systems are being finished.

The time between 1.0 and 1.1 won't be long as we're almost done with the intro of Chapter 2 and people are already working on sandbox writing for the new girls.

Yeah, they always said they want to finish all the game mechanics before adding more characters and story to streamline development.
And I will remind people every time they forget.

We will never be broadly thanked for ensuring the game won't end up a buggy mess down the line but we don't need that validation. Simply releasing a functional product is a goal we strive for.

Let me confirm this by saying that I've already finished the first two scenes for one character, and I've just gotten to work on the next two for a different character (no, I won't say who or what, don't ask, I'm not going to spoil the surprise).

Also, there's a few extra things for Chapter 1 that I've finished that we're just waiting on being added, and should hopefully be in the game before we move on to Chapter 2. One includes something that people have wanted for a while, and the other should answer a few lingering questions people have had.

No,I literally mean I don't want to wait 10-15 years to have a completed game.
We already have 2 games that was going into 11-th year of development and soon a lot will join them.

Some News Posted On Discord

RonChon:I'm super happy to announce that our dev team is growing with the addition of Riven! many of you may know Riven from the game-mods channel. he has already been helping me put the pedal on 0.8c development and is proving an invaluable addition to the team! please join me in officially welcoming him with that, we have tentative plans for 0.8c to be code-complete by the end of this month (August), at which point I anticipate a public beta. then it'll just be a matter of quashing bugs before the official release as I discussed in a previous announcement, 0.8c is a tech-heavy release focused on behind-the-scenes code flow and optimization. to this end, we are clearing the slate in terms of save compatibility, as our after_load label was getting pretty bloated from measures to make saves forwards compatible

that's right: 0.8c will require a new save

the whole team is working hard to minimize the need for this kind of save breaking going forward. normally we have a good amount of recourse to avoid it, but the changes made in 0.8c are significant enough to make it necessary. we've gone ahead and pushed as many breaking changes as we could think of into this update, so I sincerely hope this is a one-off
I picked the wrong game to catch up with.
Is odd, I like the girls so much that making a new save feels like I am killing them.

This is sadly the case for a lot of indie games that are done part time.

A lot of cool shit like Hollow Knight got picked up by publishers which increased their budget and by extension increased their speed.

Considering that our project is in a real grey area legally, we ain't gonna get a publisher.

For us though we're pretty lucky with the pace we got. TNH straight up won't be a 15 year long game specifically because of our relatively small scope. Once we finish the programming, which is what we're calling 1.0, genuinely the only part of development will be art and writing.

All time in between updates will be waiting for art to finish and for the writers to finish up dialogue.

Content will also be denser too. So you'll be getting more stuff, faster because every system that will be needed for it will be completed and we just need to plug it in.

10 years of developing Star Citizen versus 10 years of developing No Man's Sky.

Just saying.

Nothing wrong with long time in development, but when literally every second game is going for such time, some even for 20 or 30 years-it's ridiculous.
As Boots said, I'm pretty sure that this game's development cycle won't go on until I'm able to get AARP's full benefits (which is 15 years). But to offer a possible solution so that the wait time between updates is enjoyable: maybe actively join the community? I mean, I barely give a shit about Marvel outside of some of the movies and console games like Ultimate Alliance, but shooting the shit with these geeks, dorks and weirdos has been pretty amusing since 0.2. - better than only checking in every few months and essentially asking "When can I jack off", in my humble opinion.
