And again, literal child prostitute, it doesnt get more edgy than that, so no, it has never been a case of "this is made by vanilla conservatives", its that their characters have never, at any point, had any interest in that, again, you can like it that way, but no, the characters arent meant to have them but werent allowed, to this day of 2025 they still dont show up like that, and if they did it would certanly clash with their ongoing aesthethics of decades.

I never said "this is made by vanilla conservatives" just "made for the widest financially stable common American denominator" which has always been mostly white with a conservative lean. To this day what is considered center left in the US is seen as right leaning by most of the west like here in Europe. Besides, most of the edge that's been presented in superhero media are things that leave no visible marks so they can be written around like it never happened. Sadly both a goth fase and a life of prostituton fall in these ranks. But honestly that's getting well of topic of Rogue's Ass so let's move past that.

I have barely read the comics so I don't know if the girls ever gave their opinions on tattoos. As it currently stands from my understanding I would need to see offical panels of them saying "No tats fo me please" or I'm left assuming they just weren't presented with the option in universe. And as it's a game, I expect our presence in their lives to have some effect. Even if it's them telling me "No tats fo me please".

That you've fallen for them as is great. Combendable even. I'm just saying we now have character interaction possiblilities and find "they didn't then so they shouldn't now" to be limiting and boring.

As it's fiction these type of things need to be explicitly shown in some capacity. The only reason we know that Laura cuts herself is because it was shown (scars would have communinicated it too if it wasn't for the healing factor). Otherwise that too would be up tp debate and character interpertation. Same applies here.

We can't assume what their opinions on things would be unless it's made clear that they have these opinions. it's why I'm asking for proof they have any opinions on tattoos before saying they'd be open to them or not.

I do feel a need to point out that for most of the run of X-Men and many, many other titles, you had to get your entire book approved by the Comics Code Authority, a group of people who seemed to think that truly interesting characters or dealing with real-life issues is something you should NEVER expose children to. This was a group of censors, pure and simple. The industry started ignoring this "requirement" when whole lines and companies that ignored the CCA started outselling then, with story lines that many had wanted to do when they worked for Marvel or DC. Then, certain people decided that they wanted to be "edgy," and that's how you get some absolute shit like the original run of NYX. That's also when a LOT of other horrible story decisions were made by editorial staff, not the writers. Of course, you also had plenty of writers making questionable calls, but you also had solid stuff being done by people who hadn't worked much in the States, and knew how to write good books without the CCA guidelines.

Claremont wrote great stories, let his freak flag fly, and to keep the censors from even blinking at some of the outfits he talked the art department into by having the women in his titles constantly playing gay chicken. But he also truly did want some of the characters he had a hand in creating to be actually different, but knew it would never fly under the CCA. But to be absolutely clear on something: Under the CCA, goths and punks were only allowed to be villains, and NYX would never have been written.

Beta progress and other news

RonChon:beta16 is up! I'm aware of the Android crash and I've submitted a fix request to Ren'Py

once that is fixed, I plan to do a bit more tweaking of dialogue flags before official 0.8c release. I've ended up having to leave a lot of dialogue unflagged due to time constraints, so I will continue to reflag them for future versions - what this means is that some context-specific reactions to various sandbox requests that you're used to from previous versions might not have made it into 0.8c, but they'll make it into future versions

plan is for official release this weekend if the Android crash gets fixed by then!

in the meantime, we're continuing our fundraising drive by opening up crowdfunding for the commission of a standing art model for Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect! there is a new pay-what-you-want Patreon tier open for this purpose, just shoot me a message that you've contributed to it so I can update the progress message

Previous saves will not work on 0.8c so you have to restart. Also asking for beta saves to use in the official version doesn't seem all that good of an idea.

No, they dont each have dedicates issues where they go to tattoo shops to say "no, i am not interested in this", they simply havent ever show any intention to get one in their runs at any point nor been drawn with them, that should be proof enough.
